Ebays 'global shipping program' scam.
I used to buy stuff from ebay from the US or other countries. Haven't in a while and now i see every seller has this GSP shit with 'import fees' attached, which is ridiculous.
If i have to pay import/tax i hear it from customs myself. I'll never pay it in advance via fucking ebay. Is there a way to buy and deactivate this import fee crap? Customer is king, but apparently not at ebay. If i can't, oh well. Won't be using ebay anymore then. |

Well I don't know about that but I recently bought an item from the USA for about $80.
It took over a month to arrive and I ended up paying customs tax not once but twice because the people sending the parcel sent it in 2 boxes. So I ended up paying double the price for this item. Maybe if ebay had this thing you talk of in place I would have been able to see the fees first. |

Your problem is caused by a lack of communication by the seller, doesnt have anything to do with this GSP system. |

How would your customs even know that you paid it to some 3d party across the world? And if they knew how would they collect from the seller from across the world?
I saw things like that before (not on ebay) and I wondered that... Plus sometimes what you pay is lower than what you have to pay in customs (included VAT), so it sounds even more fishy. Looks like you would have to pay VAT anyway, so you bother with taxes twice.. All in all - useless feature in my books. |

very fishy indeed... i searched this 'shipping program' and came to this video..
so this shipping company called PBI unpacks and uses shit repackaging for your bought item... it gets better... From the comments: "PBI also repackages items with intent. If something is overpacked in order to protect the contents PBI will reduce the packaging and boxing in order to save weight so that PBI can increase their profits. The buyer still pays the same amount for shipping but PBI pays considerably less after they downsize the package and pockets the rest. As for blaming the seller and finding a seller that does not use PBI... that is becoming increasingly difficult. PBI is NOT the seller choice. PBI is an eBay contractor, hired by eBay and supported by eBay. The seller has no choice to send to a different company when they are enrolled in the Global Shipping program. It is ONLY PBI. Since this is a money maker for eBay and PBI this program is increasing in use due to the shady programming on eBay that opts sellers in to the program without their knowledge. I have been opted in three times already after I have continually attempted to opt out. ALSO, eBay will opt a seller in instantly but when a seller attempts to opt-out it can take days for this to take effect and if the seller has any other items listed those items are still subject to this abusive program unless the seller just closes all of their listings until the opt-out takes effect. This is a devious program created by eBay and contracted to PBI solely to make them both money while leaving sellers and buyers on the short end of the stick. Unfortunately it will not be long before eBay makes this program mandatory for all international sales." |

The worst is how they hold your funds for up to 21 days after a sale. I've sold the thing, give me my fucking money. I had to call them last time to release my funds, even though I had already entered the tracking info on ebay and the items were successfully delivered. What a fucking scam. Anything to hold onto your money just a little bit longer.

Seller has to accept it for it to show. I'm a seller and I don't use any ebay offered shipping. As the seller I ALWAYS end up with the short end of the stick. Not only do they under quote every single time they also take 10% commission on the shipping as well. Most of my items require freight and costs go well into the hundreds. Only took a few times of having to eat $$$ before I learned my lesson. I wouldn't even consider exporting anything of value via ebay. It's hard enough to get your item back within your own country much less from another and ebay/paypal aren't very seller friendly.
