It's bombing within the borders of Syria, but it's not against Syria. It's against terrorist groups such ISIS, who are attacking Syria. It's protecting the Syrian people.

It is pretty simple: Russians are helping Assad as he requested since it clear that he won't be able to take more fighting with foreign mercenaries and islamic fanatics backed by Saudi Arabia and Western countries. meanwhile: TASS: Russian Politics & Diplomacy - Chechen leader ready to send high-class specialists for countering IS in Syria

Supporting Assad is the only option. Replace him and only another leader like him can control the country.
Syria isn't civilised and yearning for a Western style democracy. It's made up of many warlike faction who are happy to kill others to grab power. You would think after the mess of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Egypt, and a host of other Muslim Countries the West would have learned it's best to leave a the devil you know in place than replace him. Putin will now end up as Assad's mate. |

I don't think you guys understand what's going on.
This is sort of a proxy war between the US and Russia. If not a direct one very soon. The US supports rebels in Syria against the President of Syria. Russia supports the Syrian president. So all you guys who love Obama cross your fingers and hope he doesn't get us into a war with Russia ![]() |

It's another case of Putin thinking the world is dumb enough to not see right through his intent.
Just like in Crimea. Russians are famous for this kind of behavior, because they think with their nuts.

what is the difference? They all have same goal to establish islamic khalifat through violence killing and destruction. Principles are same, most of them are moving from one to another side, they are savages who want to take over country where all religions lived in peace.

Let me play fortune teller for a second. And I'll tell you how this is all going to go down.
Russia is going to bomb Isis and the us-backed rebels against the President of Syria. Which are our allies. We will bomb Isis. And some of the Syrian forces. But eventually we will pull out. In fear of hitting Russian troops and starting a war. Russia has already warned the US to pull out air forces. So that way when they shoot down one of our planes. They say it's the USA's fault and they were given fair warning. Then Obama will withdraw our forces. Then Russia will give back the Syrian president his country where he can rule as a dictator. Then Russia can support Iran as they get their nuclear weapons. And Russia will probably plant a base or at minimum have warships there. The worst thing that might happen is that American forces especially the Air Force might engaged a firefight with Russian pilots. Which will be the first time in American History where America went to war against Russia. |

The West has no real answer to IS or Assad. They're more interested in their profile amongst the Liberals than facing the reality which Putin has done.
There are options to consider. Assad or similar rules the area with an iron fist hitting anyone who opposes him, IS wins and rules the area with an iron fist studded with nails hitting anyone they think is opposing the will of their god and ideology. Or no one rules and the entire country becomes a hot bed of groups fighting a civil war. Which eventually spills into Iraq and then onto other countries. Eventually the West is called in to invade and fight a war that dwarfs everything since WW2. Or Putin wins the battles, puts Assad back in charge and Syria is now a buddy of Russia. What's not an option is what the West is hoping for. Everyone gets around the table and talks it through. What will happen until the end comes, is 10,000s or 100,000 civilians will die. War isn't nice and clean and fought by any rules. |

Who really think that Assad is problem? Guy is western educated, dentist, that came to power after his brother died in car crash. His country don't owe money to MMF and money from oil is splitted to people of his country. Just like it was in Libya. He managed to keep all those sick and dirty motherfuckers under control, where they lived with christians and other religions.
Why is Assad problem when there is Saudi Fucking Arabia that is financing terror worldwide and where they have despots ruling for years.

Before taking the podium at the UN General Assembly on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin had already stolen Washington?s thunder. By shifting new military hardware to Syria, the Kremlin seized the world?s attention, and set the groundwork for a new military alliance between Russia, Syria, Iran and Iraq.
By playing the Syria card, the Russian leader casts Russia as a decisive country ? and the only power capable of coordinating an effective front against Islamic State. Mr. Putin has also capitalized on U.S. failures in Syria: He and other Russian officials have played up the fact that the Obama administration?s efforts to train and equip handpicked Syrian opposition fighters have fallen short. Here?s what Mr. Putin?s Syria gambit represents: 1 Reasserting Russia?s role in the region Restoring Russia?s national pride has been one of the main themes of Mr. Putin?s presidency. Deploying weaponry to Syria and launching an anti-terror alliance allows him to project a muscular image abroad. The United States has long maintained military power in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, but the move to bolster the government of Mr. Assad ? and form an alliance with Tehran and Baghdad ? echoes the Soviet Union?s expansive foreign policy in the region, where client states once received weaponry, expertise and support from Moscow. 2 Diverting attention from the war in Ukraine Following the ouster of pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovych last year, the Russian government annexed Crimea ? and sponsored an insurrection in Ukraine?s eastern Donbass region. But the Ukrainian state didn?t collapse, and Russia was slapped with punishing sanctions. Focusing on the Middle East is a sort of geopolitical sleight-of-hand, forcing policymakers in Western capitals to focus attention on something other than Ukraine. 3 Countering Islamic State at home Russia has an Islamic State problem. The country has long faced Islamist insurgents in the north Caucasus region, but militants in regions such as Dagestan have recently rebranded themselves as loyal to Islamic State. The Russian government is worried about thousands of jihadi volunteers who may receive training and experience from Islamic State, then return home to Russia and former Soviet republics to wreak havoc. 4 Standing by their man Russia has consistently supported the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The Russian government has supplied conventional weaponry to Mr. Assad?s forces ? and has helped keep the regime?s helicopters flying. But beyond fulfilling contracts, Mr. Putin has also protected the regime, vetoing UN sanctions against Damascus. 5 Thwarting 'regime change.' The Kremlin is fixated on countering what it sees as a U.S. policy of overthrowing unfriendly governments ? and a hidden U.S. hand behind pro-democratic movements in Ukraine and the post-Soviet space. In that worldview, Russia is the ultimate target of U.S. policy. For Mr. Putin, then, one thing is clear: countering Washington begins in Syria. |

"...His father had been grooming Bashar's older brother Bassel as the future president.[41] Bashar, however, was recalled in 1994 to the Syrian Army, after Bassel's death in a car accident....
Soon after the death of Bassel, Hafez Assad made the decision to make Bashar the new heir-apparent.[42] Over the next six and half years, until his death in 2000, Hafez went about systematically preparing Bashar for taking over power. Preparations for a smooth transition were made on three levels......"
