Well, compare radar/satalite technology now and then. Also compare how long it takes to get jets in the air to shoot down a missle? The response time would be incomparably faster now. Poland wouldn't fire nukes on Kaliningrad because it would end up killing a shitload of it's own people in blast radius / radiation exposure, and Moscow would see missle coming towards it and have jets in the air before it even silo door even finished opening, since they would naturally be observing the area.

No, it won't. A cruise missile needs a couple of minutes to reach the target (from that distance). Only ground systems like S300-S400 and the US Patriots are potentially able to take them down. The strategic ICBM's can not be intercepted at all.

You don't understand it. First of all, Poland will not be asked. Those will be the US missiles and only the US command will decide when to use them or not. You will be just a cannon fodder. Please understand it: those will be not your nukes and the USA will never allow you to get control over them. The second thing is that your country will turn into the first strike target. you are missing the bigger picture... if Poland gets attacked now, rest of NATO may or may not actually defend them... but if US nukes/troops/etc end up in Poland, then rest of NATO will have no choice but to defend Poland...

so on one hand Poland will become a target, but at the same time will become an important asset that rest of NATO will have to defend...

...and really all this makes zero difference from strategic point of view, NATO nukes are already in Germany which is only marginally further away, and there is no reason why nuke armed subs couldn't be in the baltic / black sea... so putting nukes in Poland doesn't change anything, except solidify relationship between Poland and rest of NATO...

I don't think it's about gaining some strategic edge, cause like I said there isn't much to gain strategically by putting nukes in Poland, nukes can just as easily be launched from black/baltic sea/germany/etc...

it's more about making Poland a key asset within NATO, forcing NATO to defend it in case of any conflict...

If as you said ballistic missle is impossible to stop and takes 'a few minutes' to reach target then it will take not much longer to arrive from Berlin then warsaw...ICBM i'm reading travels at 6-7km per second

Warsaw is 1150km in straight line from Moscow, Berlin is 1600km, so a whole extra minute of extra notice.

Honestly, it doesn't matter because when the nukes start and who dies first - Moscow and Washington would both be rubble 10 minutes after Warsaw anyways.

No, you are wrong. This will not force NATO to defend Poland somehow. Just because using of nuclear weapon will mean the beginning of global WWIII. Thus if hypothetically Poland will be invaded by Russia (which is absolutely impossible), the States will have to decide if they want a nuclear war or not and it doesn't matter is they have nukes in Poland or not. The decision will be the same anyways (to nuke Russia or to not). As I said above, the only advantage the USA will gain is to nuke Russia faster using their missiles in Poland (a very reasonable thing). This won't give any profit to Poland however, because it will be a first strike target. I mean if there will be some military conflict which will not be related to the "Russian invasion of Poland" (give me a single argument why Russia could do it), the Russian army will do everything it can to eliminate that country first. Actually this is a real danger for both sides. That's not a protection, that's a provocation of war.

No, please re-read my post above. Hint: ICBM's can not be used on such a low range. Only cruise missiles and low range ballistic missile systems like 9K720 (aka Iskander) can do it.

On Saturday, Deputy Defense Minister Tomasz Szatkowski said that the ministry was currently discussing whether to ask to take part in NATO's so-called Nuclear Sharing program to improve the country's defenses. He made the comments in an interview with the private broadcaster Polsat.

But the Defense Ministry issued a statement on its website on Sunday denying that discussions are underway.

"Within the Defense Ministry there is presently no work underway concerning the accession of our country to the NATO Nuclear Sharing program," the statement said.

The 28-member NATO has three nuclear powers, the U.S., France and Britain, but only the U.S. has provided weapons to allies for nuclear sharing. Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey have hosted nuclear weapons as part of the program.
