I was at Manuel Ferrara's house 2 days ago and he showed me some mainstream stuff shot with I think it was 16 Go-Pros.

I was like WTF!!!! The scenes were a complete 360 up and down view with no seems.

I actually am a diver who loves spear fishing and this truly made me feel like I was under water with everything I saw. So impressed!!

The I was in the cockpit of a formula One car. That too was amazing!!

The porn I saw was cool, but nothing like the mainstream stuff I saw.

The porn I saw was a clip of 3 couples. One to my left and right and straight in front of me.

The other clip I saw was a massive orgy scene with a whole lot of stuff going one.

I will defiantly be buying this Oculous Rift thing, but it won't be for porn, it will be for the mainstream stuff that I saw.

On the business side, i have no interest in shooting this stuff for porn.

But I do have a meeting with someone that wants me to head up a mainstream shoot, where I would be capturing the look and feel of the the X-games.

and I just tried some more and found out a couple interesting things about the Samsung stuff - like that not everyone can deal with it (one person saw the screen flicker, the other had problems with left eye/right eye separation) and that it's not made for a 5 hour wanking session, the phone overheats after a while and needs a break

Marc Dorcel has made some awesome stuff already but they also just used about 270° out of 360° - the very background was just a huge logo.

No DRM - the files are basically just ordinary mp4 videos.

but like I said on Skype yesterday: you need a really high bitrate (20 mbit/s and up) for a satisfying experience - which pretty much rules out tubes already (because I think that bandwidth and storage costs will not make it profitable).

and whoever saw a low quality sample, definitely will be looking for full quality

I was thinking more of torrents and peer to peer stuff. It won't be able to be produced at the same rate as non-VR stuff, so all of your content being available will happen eventually. and the tubes will catch up at some point. Years, but at some point. I wonder if there will be an option at some point.

360 doesn't really make sense unless for orgy scenes or scenes in which at least several girls are present. Or until such time as the vr headset wearer can 'move around' the porn studio. That will be achievable in digital environments, but I guess it will have to wait for the vr tech to improve and for people to figure out how to record it for it to happen with real porn scenes. I am interested in how vr porn for the HTC Vive will differ, if at all, from the content being produced for the Oculus and Gear. Theoretically I suppose it could allow for viewer movement, but I think it will have to wait for the next generation of light field tech for it to really be possible.

well - who else besides Penthouse is doing 3D? Did they really make millions on it? Is anyone using his 3D TV at home? I have tried mine once about 4 years ago and everybody I ask says the same - no one is watching 3D at home. Even when they live alone.

And for me the HUGE difference is: With VR I have clients that are willing to invest in production - with 3D the willingness to spend extra on production was zero. Besides Penthouse - I could tell you some really funny (or sad) story about that.

So we didn't even start 3D production back then because no one wanted to pay extra for it.

And I agree about 360° - makes sense only for mass scenes.

You made 2 conflicting statements: 1) 360 doesn't really make sense unless for 2+ girls present and 2) live vr (with 1 girl only) will do well.
I been director of some cam sites in past 10 years and I can see that 90% of the private shows, especially those long 1+ hours, always in old and modern times, feature single girl with fixed cam, either full body shot, or face shot for blah blah, or pussy/bum close up for rest - the change between these 2 or 3 standard poses is can be made with pan/tilt head commanded by remote, or, by the girl touching small cam with hands. I know I am not a cam specialist but I still would like to disagree.

whenever i look at cam sites, i see very often that girls are very close to the camera and you only see parts of her body.

Ok I checked samsung gear VR... that's cool if you're near big animals like a dinosaur or mega whale fishes, or in a circus looking up guys jumping. It follows your head quick, you are in the environment definitely. Regarding single woman of woman size, sure it feels more real than plain 2d, especially when something is moving in your direction (like, she slaps you in face lol), but I feel the 3d more with big objects or many small flying around up down etc., than a single person in front there.
Device became too hot to operate (screamed "please I need to cool down") and consumed 40% battery in 30 minutes while testing 3d demos, I suppose with videos it lasts longer.
It is sure worth $100 if you already own a Samsung S6, if there will be content available.

For those still following this,
I can say that every smartphone will only get better. We are seeing screen sizes and resolutions that should enable 100 degree and better field of views and GPU's to drive high end phones starting with the Samsung s8 but we could see something in the next NOTE release this year.
As production techniques get better, this is only driving great experiences and fast.

I'm waiting for the first cam tube site with 360 cams and MTO content.
While it is not my 'thing', I can clearly see it being the choice for many.

As will peer 2 peer VR.

If you read some forums, the consensus is that 180° 3D is the way to go. People are not happy with sites that produce 360°.

One of the problems with 360° is the quality. You're using the same resolutions for an even larger area.
4K in regular porn is super sharp, 4K for VR comes out just okay, since it's not the actual resolution that your eye will see. With 360° it's even worse. And you cannot raise the resolution further, because today's devices won't be able to play the files then.

It's not really worth it to waste the resolution for stuff that's going on behind your back, I don't think people generally want to spin 360° while watching porn either.

I think some sites "solved" the quality issue by recording 360° but not making it 3D. (Your left and right eyes see the same picture.)
Well, users aren't happy when it's not 3D either.

Also, anything that's not close to the user in the VR world is just not detailed, and not enjoyable. So people fucking meters away is not really enjoyable.

If you want to learn what users want, reddit is the best place to be. They don't want 360° orgies. They want intimate 180° 3D videos, with the girls being super close - girlfriend experiences, eye contact, actual kissing, boobs in the face, face sitting, stuff like that.

It follows your head quick, you are in the environment definitely. Regarding single woman of woman size, sure it feels more real than plain 2d, especially when something is moving in your direction (like, she slaps you in face lol), but I feel the 3d more with big objects or many small flying around up down etc., than a single person in front there. Device became too hot to operate (screamed "please I need to cool down") and consumed 40% battery in 30 minutes while testing 3d demos, I suppose with videos it lasts longer. We are seeing screen sizes and resolutions that should enable 100 degree and better field of views and GPU's to drive high end phones starting with the Samsung s8 but we could see something in the next NOTE release this year. As production techniques get better, this is only driving great experiences and fast. I'm waiting for the first cam tube site with 360 cams and MTO content. While it is not my 'thing', I can clearly see it being the choice for many. As will peer 2 peer VR.

One of the problems with 360° is the quality. You're using the same resolutions for an even larger area. 4K in regular porn is super sharp, 4K for VR comes out just okay, since it's not the actual resolution that your eye will see. With 360° it's even worse. And you cannot raise the resolution further, because today's devices won't be able to play the files then. It's not really worth it to waste the resolution for stuff that's going on behind your back, I don't think people generally want to spin 360° while watching porn either. I think some sites "solved" the quality issue by recording 360° but not making it 3D. (Your left and right eyes see the same picture.) Well, users aren't happy when it's not 3D either. Also, anything that's not close to the user in the VR world is just not detailed, and not enjoyable. So people fucking meters away is not really enjoyable. If you want to learn what users want, reddit is the best place to be. They don't want 360° orgies. They want intimate 180° 3D videos, with the girls being super close - girlfriend experiences, eye contact, actual kissing, boobs in the face, face sitting, stuff like that.
