What's a good camera for shooting POV?
I've done a few POV shoots now but think it is time to invest in a really good camera.
Last time I was using a small super light weight camcorder. The problem I had with it was that it was a little wobbly (probably because it was light and held by a single hand). Also the lens is fixed so I felt like it was cropped too much and I couldn't hold it further back because then I couldn't see the screen. I also didn't like the fact that it didn't look professional. What do you guys recommend for a good POV camera? I'd like to shoot 4K to some kind of digital media (no tape) and it should work well for POV holding. Do I need a small handheld or do the more professional full size camcorders work? Wide angle is probably a must. Image quality with little noise is a must. Budget is up to $2,000 but could go $3,000 if it is really going to make a difference. What camera do you guys use and do you handhold or set it up on a tripod behind you? |

Slightly "bulky" but the resolution...well, actually that actually sucks too!

Whatever you get, read the reviews and make sure it really does well in low light and has great image stabilization. Look at this one:

Ive been the King of POV for 13 years now and I always hold camera in hand. Smallest camera is best that you can handle without shaking. If you can't keep cam still and focused and framed during cum shot , find another gig lol.

Get a Panasonic GH4 paired with this ultra wide lens and you will get the best image quality in 4K at your price point. It is a corrected lens so even at the ultra wide point distortion is under control.

Have you had good experience with them? I tried with an earlier version. The first "Hero" version and the low light was atrocious. Latest version might perform better. I do use it every now and then when I'm shooting stills and want to get BTS of everything.
