I just learned about GDPR today, seems like this goes into effect May 2018. Anyone else planning for this? Way to f#$# up my Friday. I am not even sure what I need to do yet. I collect data from my clients (address, etc) so I need to be compliant it seems.

So the EU are saying that even though the UK are out of the EU, the UK citizens have to comply with their rules even if the UK government introduce new rules.
I wonder why people think the EU is devil spawn.

Yes, this could be major and if your site--free or paid or anything in between--receives visitors from EU, you may be affected. Best thing you can do now is talk to a lawyer proficient in enacting GDPR policies to see what you may need to do in order to become compliant.

The best advice ever!

It usually is not that hard to enforce the law, by letting your members know what kind of personal information are you collecting and to allow them to have an easy way to delete their information off of your site completely (to delete their profiles). But again, I'm not a lawyer, so...
