If you read more into it you find that yes, he should have helped. Especially considering his bombs that somehow got dropped from his plane is what wiped out the fire fighting crew. It was up to other crew members to put out the fire and help the wounded. A hero doesn't go below deck and watch via CCTV, he helps.. A hero doesn't hop on a helicopter leaving the rest of his crew behind and go on a binge because you think your career might be over. (Why would a hero think that unless he caused it?)

The claim is that he stayed in captivity on his own until the others were released. That's bullshit as well.. He didn't want to face the music if it were to come out that he snitched. It got buried for many years.. Even decades I think.... Again it's been awhile.
