So, Hurricane Michael went through right next door to Panama City and hour or so ago.

I'm looking at a Panama City webcam a few minutes ago and the surfers are already in the water.

Too fucking funny. What a bunch of kooks ;p

Cam switches between different spots. Only surfing one of the spots.

edited in: well it appears the live feed is offline now. oh well.

It is moving pretty fast though so it won't cause as much damage as it would if it stalled. Already up by the border of Georgia.

Edit.. Looks like as soon as it hit it around 12 it sped up to 100+ and dropped down rather quickly.

Not sure why the difference between that and VentuSky.

You should keep these precautions in mind with sharks while surfing.

1. Stay out of the Water at Dusk and Dawn
Experienced surfers may have no fear of sharks, however, if you are first-time surfer, or new to surfing and looking to avoid a shark encounter, it is best to stay out of water at dusk and dawn, as these are the two primary feeding times for sharks. So if you want to minimize your chances of encountering a shark, avoid a shark's breakfast or dinnertime.

It was 155 earlier category 4

It’s getting bad down there. At 1:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. CT, Hurricane Michael has made landfall near Mexico Beach, Fla as a Category 4 hurricane with max wind speeds of 155 mph, and moving north northeast at 14 mph.

A Cat 5 hurricane has 156 mph winds…

Did dawn patrol as often as possible too. Get in there before it becomes a zoo. We used the porpoises of our sign it was safe. If the Porpoises were around then the sharks usually stayed away.

Had many encounters with sharks across the years, none that turned out badly.

University of Florida/Weatherflow observing site measured a minimum
pressure of 920.2 mb.

Now that the entire eyewall has moved over land, the Doppler radar
velocities have decreased and the initial intensity has been lowered
to 110 kt. Although steady weakening is expected as Michael moves
over the southeast U.S. through Thursday morning, hurricane-force
winds will continue to penetrate inland over the Florida Panhandle,
southeastern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia through this evening.
The circulation is forecast to emerge over the western Atlantic
Thursday night and Friday, where intensification as an extratropical
cyclone is expected. The extratropical low is expected to remain
quite strong while to moves over the north Atlantic through the
weekend. The low is expected to be absorbed by another low pressure
area over the eastern Atlantic by day 5.
