Is it worth it?
I'm starting to feel a bit depressed...
I've been reading some of the older threads on this board, and they seem to indicate that a large number of users believe that it is impossible to make a decent living in online porn anymore. What's even more troubling is that most of these threads have posts dating from 2015. If things were that bad in 2015, how much worse must they be now? My site has been up since 2007. I had some pictures posted on it long ago, which I removed for reasons that have nothing to do with anything that might affect what I decide to do going forward, but I've never had any video content. Having gotten some filmmaking experience over the past few years, however, I thought that maybe creating some content for my site which I can then distribute through a linked Clips4Sale site might be a way to turn my filmmaking skills into a source of income. Now, after reading all the posts saying there was already no money in this business anymore three years ago, I'm starting to think it won't be. The kind of niche content I want to produce might be somewhat costly, and I don't really know what kind of conversion rate I'm going to get. And then there's the piracy issue. So, I am looking at potentially producing a bunch of content that I might sell once and then see posted on tube sites the day after I post it. What would be the point? Yes, I would enjoy the process of producing the material, but, if I'm not getting paid anyway, I could still enjoy an almost identical process creating films that cost a whole lot less. The strength of my site is basically what I have to base my decision on. It still gets thousand of unique visitors per month, despite not having been substantially updated in literally years. And I know that my visitors are looking for the kind of content I intend to produce. I just need to know: Is it worth the risk? I know I can't afford to produce each video and then sell it through Clips4Sale only 1 time. I would have to sell each clip for a thousand dollars or more, and even then I would just be breaking even. Is there any chance that I can actually - now, in 2019 - sell the same clip enough times to enough different people to make producing it worthwhile? What say you in the webmaster community? Any advice? Words of encouragement? |

I've been producing my own content since 1999.
I post my content on my own sites, on my own servers, that I run. I have my own merchant accounts. I protect some of my videos from being downloaded. I use dmca agents to take down my content. My porn sites have been 100% of my income since 1999. GFY is mostly old affiliates, for most of them, there is no money in porn now thanks to tubes & Google. Your content is King, that's why tubes try to steal it. My words of inspiration & wisdom: 1) Never disclosed your current sites here 2) Never disclose a new niche here 3) Never disclosed a new idea here A lot of old affiliates here have turned into content thieves and are looking for the "latest & greatest" to steal / copy to make a quick cheap buck on. Content is king. Be unique. Be under the radar. Know your audience and continue to evolve with them creating new sites that are offshoots/evolutions of your niche based on member feedback. Yes, it is worth it! ![]() |

It is very hard if you want to go the paysite route and actually produce the content yourself and try to be a one man swiss army knife with no experience...it is definitely possible but you should not expect any low hanging fruit along the way...

Basically:
If you are the type that wants to throw up some FHG's and make $10K a month... not going to happen. That was everything before 2007. After 2007 you now have to do work and be a business person. That might require capital, underlings, knowledge of your market, thinking outside of the box and preferring to watch Shark Tank and The Profit over The Bachelor and Two Broke Girls. * with that last sentence carrying the most weight.

you have to think outside of the box, create something new, there are apis, content providers, billers , tubes.
you have to create a new and engaging product to make huge bucks. for small bucks start cj tube site farm. i m doing the same.

You can still make money in online porn today.
The reason why some people are saying this is because from 1998 to 2006 it was really easy to make money. You could buy a domain name at 9am in the morning, by 10am you could have it up and running with TGP software, plug in your CCBill affiliate ID, and you would have traffic, content, and sales by noon. Rinse and repeat. You could easily have a TGP making $50 - $500 a day. If you have ten of those, well, you aren't going hungry. Submit a gallery to the Hun and bingo, you were raking in bucks. Those days are long gone. Our industry has changed. It's no longer about traffic or how many hits someone can send you. It's about information. Get someone's email address and you can sell them all day long. I won't convert like it's 2003, but you will still make money. I don't mean to push YNOT Mail but... I have people who are emailing and raking in bucks.

If you can identify a market, provide value to that market in exchange for a form of monetisation be it a paysite or ads, then you will make money.
If you can't provide value to your market, then you won't make money. That's the simple foundation on which you should build, you need to step back and look at what you're doing and ask yourself "does this provide value?" is it able to be differentiated from everything else somehow? |

Okay, so maybe I am a total noob. I had no idea what you were talking about, so I looked up cj tube. It appears to be all free videos. How does anyone make money off of that?
