I produced and sold content to publishers and consumers for over 30 years. Putting content onto free tubes doesn't compare with you qualifications.

The next big thing has to be something no one can copy, give away, pirate, etc. This is the problem with a bar for entry so low that practically anyone can jump in and take part.

There may be new big things for the online industry, the reality is there will be very few big things the individual or small company can cash in on. The reasons are simple. Roughly speaking, offline businesses need to pay $5 - $50 a square foot for space, servers cost cents on the dollar. Added to that are all the people offering services online. From CMS to white label sites, all to add to the growing number of suppliers to a limited number of consumers.

What was the last big thing in porn that made everyone a lot of money? Or even just a lot of people a lot of money.

I made quite a bit of money from 3d porn, but it obviously didn't last very long, and it was largely because I didn't have much competition. Then I made a bit of money from VR at the beginning (a lot of it still not paid by Naughty Revenue), but that seems to be going the same way as 3D only with hundreds of affiliates still jumping on it daily as the 'next big thing'.

Some here have made a few really good comments about AI and 'deep fake' style tech being the next big thing. The problem with that is that to me it promises to be the next big torrent/free tube style thing that will be the final nail in the coffin for the industry. Once this tech gets perfected and the software easy to download and use, why would the average punter choose to pay to watch a pornstar be animated into various sex scenes and fantasies when it will be easy just to take a Facebook photo of his crush or his best friend's wife and animate her? Obviously 'deepfake porn' is already being subjected to restrictions (banned on Reddit) and legislation is being talked about in the UK, but still, it's going to be hard to stop really.

The only thing that will certainly continue to be profitable is webcams, but the problem here is that the new tech which might make it even more profitable - remote 'haptic' sex etc, will probably drive forward calls to classify cam work as prostitution, which is getting more and more regulated or banned pretty much everywhere.

I’ve never made music for porn and I am very selective where my tracks can be used. In general a non exclusive license for any of my tracks for mainstream commercial use starts at $10k for approximately 30 seconds and if it’s being used in something distributed (other than say in a limited run advertisement) then there’s mechanical licensing fees to pay on top of that.

there was never a "big thing" going on where you can know all your customers personally.
this is amateur mickey mouse biz but not a "big thing".

actually there where only 3 "big things" that made a big group happy:

1. cams (in the start it was a real bomb)
2. dialers (worked a few years but endet as a big rippoff)
3. mobile subscriptions (see 2.)

away from that everything what made a bigger group a live was free stuff. TGPs, MGPs and later tubes.

in opposite to TGPs and MGPs the tubes have a much bigger market as they never focused on promoting just porn and they mostly don´t try it with affiliate stuff as there is a huge market with professional buyers that can make much more out of the traffic.

the big new thing will only be the realization that the market still works according to good old rules.
