“The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) strongly opposes federal interference in medical decisions, including mandated vaccines. After being fully informed of the risks and benefits of a medical procedure, patients have the right to reject or accept that procedure. The regulation of medical practice is a state function, not a federal one. Governmental preemption of patients’ or parents’ decisions about accepting drugs or other medical interventions is a serious intrusion into individual liberty, autonomy, and parental decisions about child-rearing.

A public health threat is the rationale for the policy on mandatory vaccines. But how much of a threat is required to justify forcing people to accept government-imposed risks? Regulators may intervene to protect the public against a one-in-one million risk of a threat such as cancer from an involuntary exposure to a toxin, or-one-in 100,000 risk from a voluntary (e.g. occupational) exposure. What is the risk of death, cancer, or crippling complication from a vaccine? There are no rigorous safety studies of sufficient power to rule out a much lower risk of complications, even one in 10,000, for vaccines. Such studies would require an adequate number of subjects, a long duration (years, not days), an unvaccinated control group (“placebo” must be truly inactive such as saline, not the adjuvant or everything-but-the-intended-antigen), and consideration of all adverse health events (including neurodevelopment disorders).

Vaccines are necessarily risky, as recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court and by Congress. The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has paid some $4 billion in damages, and high hurdles must be surmounted to collect compensation. The damage may be so devastating that most people would prefer restored function to a multimillion-dollar damage award.

The smallpox vaccine is so dangerous that you can’t get it now, despite the weaponization of smallpox. Rabies vaccine is given only after a suspected exposure or to high-risk persons such as veterinarians. The whole-cell pertussis vaccine was withdrawn from the U.S. market, a decade later than from the Japanese market, because of reports of severe permanent brain damage. The acellular vaccine that replaced it is evidently safer, though somewhat less effective.

The risk: benefit ratio varies with the frequency and severity of disease, vaccine safety, and individual patient factors. These must be evaluated by patient and physician, not imposed by a government agency.”

Two science degrees here from top British universities here, I also read the latest studies as a hobby, so let’s make this clear, I am in a far more informed position than your overconfident self on this topic, who once read a couple of books, what we see with your confidence is the Dunning–Kruger effect at work.

This was not a view I originally held, I went in with an open mind and researched carefully, especially taking onboard the findings of the independent experts.

What you will more likely find is that the crisitisms you throw at me are likely more relevant to youself; if you haven’t done the research then you are purely putting trust in the industry and their representatives.

You think this is about autism, that is because the pharma PR firms try to make it about that, actually it is about many different things, but most importantly of all it is about rigorous science, something which isn’t taking place on vaccination. That needs to change, and anyone who claims to be pro science should agree with that and call for both improved vaccine science and safer vaccines.

Sometimes you are smart, but on this topic you are ignorant and have been propagandized by industry and their tentacles, like the majority here. I would advise you not to outsource your thinking, not to be lazy, even if this topic is not interesting to you, it is highly important and could have life-changing effects on you and your family.

Generally, i look at the belief itself and it's characteristics to attempt to guess.

The core of his beliefs hinge on a vast global conspiracy against mankind, where he is among the very few who "get it". Most beliefs like this are just driven by chatter in the brain fueled by issues such as generalized or specific anxieties, paranoia, delusions etc and the brain naturally looks for something to attach that chatter to in an attempt to reconcile it and quiet it.

By that, i mean if a person had some paranoid belief that they were being watched 24/7, their brain would quickly construct a "makes sense" story to explain it. As sane people, we tend to try to make sense of the story... but to them, it's not about whether or not the story makes sense at all. It doesn't need to make sense to achieve its purpose. This is how the brain works to quiet that chatter. This is largely due to the fact that the human brain is incredibly energy efficient in its processing and really does everything possible to avoid actual conscious thought... which is the most energy inefficient of all mental processes by far. Our brain doesn't really want to think, it want to say "oh, thats why" and go back to idling and conserving energy... performing 10,000,000+ automatic processes at any given moment .

Though that might sound absurd on the surface, our brain burns 20% of our daily calories and it's evolved to become incredible efficient in every aspect of how it functions.

The catch 22 is that spending 23 hours a day seeking out info to support and reinforce those beliefs to quiet that chatter, then begin to shape who he is as a person, shape his relationships, his social circles, his behaviors etc and become central to who he is as a person. This is why people don't readily abandone belief systems. It means losing everything... who you are, your friends, your entire sense of identity. It is far more efficient for the brain to simply defend the belief that go through the massive cognitive task of rebuilding itself completely from the ground up with entirely new belief systems, relationships, behaviors etc etc etc.

At the end of the day, I don't really fault him. It's just his own brains wiring gone wrong. Not really his fault. Just like i can't make you conservative and you can't make me liberal, he can't imagine a world without far reaching conspiracies where he's not of the super minority that "gets it".

What bothers me is not the behavior, it's that his self serving behavior puts peoples lives at risk and kills children.... which as you said, is basically criminal.

A simple test of ones sincerity in their "quest for the truth" is by simply observing how willing they are to change their beliefs when evidence calls those beliefs into question. Obviously, he's demonstrated time and time again that he will not change his beliefs no matter what the evidence is. But ... you know, he's super educated and teaches physicians according to him, so..... :/
