GFY Is Almost Dead

This is a fact. Most of you will not want to get into acceptance of it, but pull up similarweb and look at the traffic trends for the past several months and couple years.... Numbers do not lie.

This, in spite of the fact that by all outside indications, the forum should be busier than ever!

There are more adult Websites than ever before
There are more adult webasters now than at any point in history
there are FEWER adult webaster forums than ever before
Forums are still huge in the webmaster and affiliate sector
there are THOUSANDS of adult webmasters that can be found in the other (non-adult) forums that never come here

So, Porn is Definitely not dead, Forums are not dead, and affiliate marketing is not dead, but GFY visitors counts continue to plummet despite even less cometition?

It has to do with the way it is run...

I can only speak for myself, so I'll just provide some insight in to why I Personally rarely come here, even though I am primarily an adult webmaster, I visit BlackHatWorld daily (or more) and am very active on several other forums as well (that are webmaster but not adult webmaster, such as this one)... T

If these things are that repellant to a forum junkie like me (who literally forces myself on here from time to time to give it another shot) it's a safe bet at least some of these things (if not all of them) are what is chasing people away in droves:

Bad User interface - inconvenient and cumbersome to use even on desktop let alone mobile, and extremely outdated

Time limit between search queries - VERY annoying and a time waster... you're not losing anything with someone performing 2 searches within 30 seconds - that's a ridiculous restriction. have yet to see that at any other forum in the 10 years I have been a daily user of them.. If there are no results or perhaps one were to make a typo, that 30 second wait to submit another query is almost a guarantee most people will leave the site

REALLY slow searching, with the SAME chaturbate ad as an intersitial - comes across as cheap, and considering most of your visitors are adult webmasters/affiliates who are already part of the chaturbate affiliate program, who do you think you're pitching to?

Too many Trump loving "red hats" posting right wing political nonsense and racist shit - if you don't put a lid on that it'll turn into 4chan

Ridiculous milestone requirements - 100 posts to send a PM? stupid.. I've heard of 5 post minimum, I've even heard of 25 post minimum - but 100? considering how repellent you make the process in comparison to other forums? most people are not going to stick around a community that makes them feel unwelcome - and that is precisely what that does from a user perspective

I fully expect a few people to get uppity and defensive, whatever, that's your prerogative - but these are facts....

Hopefully this can just serve as some helpful advice, maybe you will get a thing or two out of it to help improve the forum so it can actually continue to exist for another year or two or more

Black hat world is a shit show, where the Mods read your private messages! Its full of third world Indian gurus I don't know a single big player who spends any amount of time on there. Builder society (successor to wicked fire)is full of knowledgable people but for adult GFY is still the best place to go as there as still knowledgable people on here.

The thing is that this place isn't really used for business anymore. People who have been here a long time use it as a social network, a brain dump and political forum.

Why do you think sponsors don't skin the site anymore? It doesn't lead to money generating affiliates.

I'm sure there will be people who will say "I do a ton of business here! I have made tons of money in the background because of gfy!" but they are the tiny minority. The fact is the majority of people here are not making money, and just come here to reconnect with people in the industry or banter with their cyber friends.. maybe it's a nostalgic thing.

It's going to keep on dying and real webmasters will continue to migrate to more business oriented forums and still stop by here time to time to see this site dying.

Take a look at the main forum every day. It's spammed by currentlysober making the exact same "joke" every day talking about poo. If this site wasn't bleeding members he would have been removed or told to stop, but they cant afford to lose any more members.. and the added number of "daily posts" inflated by idiots like him help sucker what little advertisers they have left by making the site appear more active than it is. Do you think they tell advertisers they have "x number of business ports a day" or "x number of posts a day" ?

Pretty much everything OP said is inaccurate.

GFY is useful for business.

There are way fewer adult web sites and fewer adult webmasters now.

I used to sell tons of site skins on my non-adult properties to major motion pictures. But site skins dried up as mobile share of visitors increased. Skins are not useful on mobile.

Lastly, unlike some places depending on rage refreshes for views, GFY put all the political BS in a subforum where you only have to be bothered if you are making the choice to go there.

This point is completely valid - we don't need a time limit restriction on searches, or if there has to be one it should be like 5 or 10 seconds.

There are less porn sites as solo girls and tgps and other kinds of sites became less or zero profitable.
Big businesses running tubes and clip selling sites have taken over. I'm sure webcams are doing well.

I think it's because the way the industry is promoted has changed quite a bit. Most of my affiliates today use farmed FB and Insta accounts and they just don't bother coming on this site for info. This is for us older folks
