				Remember Dreamweaver?

I used to use Dreamweaver before Adobe bought it and fucked it to pieces. Can anyone recommend a good HTML editor with WYSIWYG capabilities? I'm looking at Coffeecup HTML editor but maybe there is something else out there a little more similar to Dreamweaver. Also I know how to use notepad and do it the hard way but I'm lazy these days.

When I first started coding in PHP many many years ago, i was using Dreamweaver because I could switch to WYSIWYG editor to make tables (this is back in the day before CSS became popular). I didn't realize there was things that were so much better.

I guess that's the downside of paying for a full copy - they can disable it at their end. Had I used a downloaded 'cracked' copy, I'd still be able to use it today... Hmmmm

I loved Dreamweaver. I'm way more dependent on developers since Adobe ruined it.

			I also loved ImageReady.

I used Composer in Netscape at some stage as well. Adobe royally fucked Dreamweaver for sure, much as I love Photoshop they could not get their website creation stuff right - dare I say 'Go Live' ... what another piece of shit, even Frontpage had the edge on that one.

I honestly fucking hate WP and that seems what I'm stuck with now, much as I'd rather work with something like Dreamweaver as well and just 'tweak' where required. |

There is blue fish or something out there. Unfortunately, Dreamweaver was the best for WYSIWYG.

You should try Apache Netbeans. Its not WYSIWYG but one hell of a good IDE, much better than notepad with structure and color coding. There are a few plug ins you can apply to make forms and a few other HTML related items easier. I have been using it for years now. I just recently upgraded to the newest version, I was using the older 8.2 Oracle version which was flawless... Apache took it over and their latest version seems to be pretty stable. I did import my 8.2 settings and have been happy with it.

		 WTF people!

It takes two weeks to learn all of HTML; but you spent 20 years fucking with dumb shit instead. I agree that it's more complicated when you add CSS and javascript; but you had 20 fucking years already! I'm not saying you should be a developer like myself; but don't call me because your banner link goes to the wrong paysite. ![]() |

If you are using windows and making static pages, this program is decent.

https://www.xara.com/us/designer-pro/ A lot of control over the layout of the page, basically put things where you want, the software re-writes all the code to make it view properly. For this reason, edinging these pages outside of the program is very difficult. It comes packed with a bunch of effects and add-ons to allow some really nice layouts. Easier to get around the responsive design, all sites start to look alike, framework. Again, I would only recommend this if you are making static sites.

$400 and I bought a copy from a college student for half price or less. Students got the discount price. I never used it and sold it.

Hot Dog Pro was my HTML tutor. I learned it from the program and never used it again. The good old days!

Anybody ever used coffeecup html editor? I've still got a copy of the last Dreamweaver before the adobe shits ruined it. On my main machine it won't run unless I close Chrome browser. But then neither will CuteFTP. I'm going to install it on fresh machine and see if I can get a few more miles out of it. After all, html hasn't changed all that much has it?

Oh fuck, Frontpage. I briefly worked as tech support for a webhost many moons ago and I hated getting Frontpage tickets.

After learning HTML basics in the late 90s, I used Composer to design all my initial sites! Back in the Xpics days making something like $0.18 PPC on blind traffic. |

Frontpage would generate so much extraneous code that it was almost useless. Microsoft is nearly always behind the eight ball with their shit. Although they may have actually got something right with the Edge browser.

What is even more scary, a la cart software. There is a company, Reallusion, has reasonable software prices, but the needed plug-ins will break you! I swear in the past 2 months i dropped over 3k with this company and still cannot do full body animation. Need the mocap gear and the plug-ins for that... another 2-3k will be needed ![]()
