9 Different States ~ Happy 420!!
Good Morning GFY and welcome to another useless, coffee fueled, post
So this morning I realized that I have lived in 9 of our 50 states. Always searching for that perfect utopia to plant roots. Moving around is easy when you are young and carefree. Not tied down to a mass of material things like what you collect over the years of living. Just load the vehicle and venture off to the next adventure. Ahhh... the good ol days! As you get older, collect stuff, maybe you have a partner, pets, kids... all anchors that keep you tied to one spot.... moving becomes more of a pain in the ass more than anything. Where I am not sure if Minnesota is where I want to live out the rest of the years I have left, I am also not sure I have the energy to just pick up and take off as in the old days. I can get away with a UHaul truck, however with 2 cats, it's not very accommodating. I may break down and put some trust into a moving service for the next move. I have a real problem putting all my possessions in the hands of another. Maybe pick up a Surban and load it with the un-replaceable items such as electronics and work stuff.... cats, fiancee We are still trying to decide where to go next. Doing all the research we can on-line.... but without a visit, it's not a true test of the community. Visiting is hard with covid... I can't wait for this shit to be over with! That said, do you pick the devil you know or take a chance and try somewhere totally new? I do know I love the western US more than the east. Everything is open in the west, even the mountainous terrains unlike the density of the east. Minnesota isn't all bad, my biggest gripe is the winters... basically the opposite of Arizona with their oppressive summers. I do like extremes Other than that, we have lakes everywhere, trees, grass, open spaces being the mid-west... there are some really beautiful areas here. But something about the Rockies keeps calling to me. We have been thinking Oregon, maybe Vancouver, WA across the river. Maybe try Idaho or western Montana... maybe western South Dakota. Might be fun to try living in a different country. The UK or Scotland, Italy maybe Ireland.... Canada and Mexico are close... Not sure I could live in Mexico though... it's fun to visit but everyday? Hell, too many choices and not enough time left Anyway... guess it's time to reboot into windows and get some work done. Unreal has a new product in Beta, it looks incredible!!! They have a Linux version... looking forward to see how it compares to what I am using now. If good, I may switch. I saw a demo, their characters are really good! Then I won't have to use Windows anymore!!! I really do not like windows.... Have a great 420 everyone!!! CORRECTION: 10 States, I forgot about Tennessee. LOL

They were more or less... before the verdict yesterday, more businesses were boarding up just in case. But all that has been avoided for now... till the appeal. Oh Man... the look in the defendants eyes... he was scared.... I was waiting for a tear... just watery...
I like California for like a year or two... then it was too many people, too much pollution... and way over priced. I remember living in Brentwood back when they were starting to recycling raw sewage for our water. Do they still do that? If so, you are correct, I do not want to drink or bathe in someone else's waste. Recycled or not. I was at Dani's Hard Drive at the time... Left it all.... I do miss the ocean though... even though I would never go in it. But something about sitting on the shore and listening to the waves crash and knowing you are on the edge of the continent is fascinating.

I'm a fan of just going some place new, but it is nice to put down roots sometimes too. Growing up, when I got to college, it was my 12th school in 12 years. These days, I like to stay places longer, but I can also split my time between Hollywood and Vegas and I know I could always go some place else.
If it is stuff keeping you in one place, it is just stuff. You can generally buy most stuff again, but you only have one life. |

A funny things is that, when you are a kid, you don't really know what is normal. Sometimes the new school was awesome and a big improvement over the last and sometimes I didn't fit at all in the new school, but I think it gave me a this-too-shall-pass attitude at a younger age. In adult life, I sometimes have to fight the urge to bail on perfectly good situations, but everything comes with pros and cons. |
