When you dog passes.

My best friend Yari died a few hours ago at age 12. He was whimpering at an unlikely hour so I took him out, he walked to the nearest grass area and collapsed. For the next 20 minutes I tried everything I could to help, but I watch him take his last breath. I'm hurting so bad. He saved my life in many ways. My boy. If there is a heaven without dogs I will be disappointed.

People say that they are 'just pets' but most of us who have had them know that they are more like family, and their loss really hurts.

I've lost several pets over the years including a family dog. We had to put it down. My wife was in the room but very emotional - he had his head in my lap as I spoke and watched him die right there. A few years later we have another dog who is amazing - but there are always fond memories of the first.

For the record - coming from someone who was in the seminary for 7 years when he was in his 20's - yes - there are pets/animals in heaven. So no need to feel sad.

My son and I had to bury our Malinois about a year ago. We are not sure why he passed. He was about the same age.

My son never really bonded with him and he was more my dog than anyones. Sadly he lived his last 2 years with my ex because I had no yard for him to play in.

Miss him every day.
Sorry for your loss.

Always a horrible time, my old mastiff is buried under a tree at the edge of the property, I find my kid sitting down there sometimes, pondering life.

It sucks bro. It always does. But none of us make it out alive.

That's why I won't get any more animals. Always breaks my heart. Never a happy ending. I can't do it anymore.

Sorry for your loss.

sorry man. That's rough. I carried my boy while he gasped his last breaths. It was rough. With time it does get better but right now you can just grieve.

I feel for you. I lost mine last week to cancer. She was only 9 years old. She was everything to me. They are happy now, playing around in doggy heaven.

It will be three years in August, I still miss the fuck out of him.

Luckily I took hundreds of photos of him, and Facebook memories constantly show some of them to me, so that helps.

I totally get it as far as rescuing a dog as a replacement, if I get another it will be the same way every other dog I have owned was found; our paths will pass.

In the meantime, neighborhood dogs know to stop in front of my house when they are on walks because they know I will come out and pet them.

Sorry to hear about that. Dogs and Cats provide so much joy to their adopted families that losing them can feel just as bad, or even worse, than losing a human relative. I'm sorry for your loss.

We were kind of lucky when mine passed that we already had 2 others. Chihuahuas and it was fun to watch them play. One of the Chihuahuas belongs to my ex but the puppy comes to visit all the time. The newest at the time was a puppy and was sooo tiny compared. I have a few photos and videos and will post something when I can of the three.

These are the photos I have off hand of them.
Little Black one is DeeDee the little tan one is Tsunami. ( The collar is because she slipped two disks when she was 5 months old and needed neck support for almost 1 year )

This is the three of them. I have one with the big dogs head in it but cant find it.
Bolt, DeeDee and Tsunami ( Also call this one mouse )

For size. DeeDee weighs about 1.8 kilos here and Tsunami is at 1 kilo. Bolt the big one was at about 48 kilos.

I am very sorry for your loss.

My dog THOR is my constant companion all day long working from home. He follows me around from room to room all day long. I could not imagine life without him.

I had a Goldendoodle but when he was run over by a car in front of my house, I balled! (I wasn't home when he got out)
Now I have a big Husky.

RIP, sorry for your loss!
