Anyone have experience buying ads on FetLife.com?
Anyone have experience with them? Their setup is a bit weird and the person I'm speaking with wants to charge me 4x what is listed on their ad page.
At $500 it's worth it for me to test, at $2000 it's a lot more risky. The claim is that it's due to the type of site I want to advertise, but that seems like a very bizarre reason. The traffic is the same regardless of the site. |

Hi Jonny,
I worked with them a long time ago and they were great. Their traffic was also super-targeted / very niche. They are also really good to work with. What I would suggest is that you ask if you can setup a test campaign first at a budget you can afford ($500 as you said above), and see how it goes. If they refuse, consider the $2k - I was happy with the results when we advertised with them so hopefully you will be too. Good luck!

Hi Mark!
Thanks for the advice, that's actually exactly what I sent back to them this morning. It seems like they may have a waiting list for ad spots, which is definitely a good sign, but also makes it less attractive to them to do a test spot for us. I really appreciate the feedback though, as I am definitely still considering that 2k slot. As a startup I want to be smart with my UA budget, so any real-person feedback is definitely appreciated. Their site would offer exposure to both users and creators in the fet/kink cats which is ideal for my project, so I might just have to bite the bullet. |

If you can, an intro/contact would be amazing! Seems like the rep is sticking to the 2k spot with no ability to test. I'll send you an email shortly to the one in your sig, or feel free to shoot me a dm

I haven't advertised on Fetlife, but I'm on there quite a bit and know those who have advertised.
If you're looking to push a site, content, platform, etc., it's probably a good move. I knew a guy who did well selling erotic hypnosis on there before the rates went up. Novelty has to be very innovative to convert. Something you won't see in a store. If selling from a white label novelty site, or it's just a paddle, flogger, dildo, chances are the traffic is not going to convert on Fetlife. As far as I'm aware of, there's nothing stopping you from setting up a Fetlife profile just as you would on Twitter, and they do have a "Support Fetlife" campaign for $5 a month. Just keep in mind they're about community and engagement on Fet, as opposed to spamming. For The Dungeon Store, we use the Fet to post about appearances, new products, exclusives, sales, customer service, and sometimes just for fun.

I debated the community engagement approach, but I've always found that feels and is received as spammy. I will absolutely give this some more thought as an option on top of purchasing ad spots. |
