every registrar will shut you down for abuse-spam related issues, its just a matter of time when.

Yet another reason to go with directnic.com - the founders started in adult and you can always talk to one of the owners. When/If something goes wrong, it's nice to know you can go straight to the top to get if fixed!

After what happened when some dolt reported Oprano for spamming when they had signed up for the NatNet football pool and got an email regarding it, I wouldn't be surprised if some other dolt reported WEG for spamming when they were a webmaster on their list.

I'm sure WEG will be up and running again shortly. And the fact that their sites are up means things are running fine to the surfers.

So who's to say an affilliate of a program spams a bunch and since he's using a program's code, GoDaddy decides to do this to that program...?

Sounds like they're shooting first and fuck the questions, by the looks of all the domains they're doing this to.

well i guess i won't be having any GoDaddy domains

Spam or no spam quite frankly that is too much power for a registar to have. I understood when you had that privacy option in your whois to hide from spammers.. but this is just crazy.

If godaddy can't understand that they are a huge company and has business of sending out bulk emails then what's next?

I don't see anyone bashing WEG -- godaddy's taking the hit... and it's well deserved.

you know, I get email from godaddy and I have told them at least 3 times I did not want the emails. I even checked my profile to make sure none of the "i want this crap" boxes were checked. But I still get their fucking newsletter. Like I give a crap if the .us shit is on sale.

maybe we could get godaddy taken down for spam also?

Just understand, from a hosts point of view... you fix your shit NOW or your off the fucking network. I have had too many threats and have even had an entire IP block of mine suspended due to "slow" reaction to a spamming complaint from verizon. As I said before, they have all the right in the world to do whats needed to rectify the issue until it is settled with the client but making it public like this is bullshit... Very bad biz practices in my mind!

I do not want to make any early assumptions so I will keep this brief. All WEG employees are aware of this situation and are working to get it resolved as soon as possible. As soon as more information becomes available I will let everyone know. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

WEGCash Staff

someone said something about accessing stats

What about the traffic you're sending, I'd worry more about that. Stats can be retrieved from a temp domain or server IP, won't be so easy to change 9150915081309819085908103958019835091385 links. No sales for 2 days.

GoDaddy better run for the boarder.

I know WEG has all their attention on this right now and is working on an immediate solution. They have a good tech staff and good people, everyone is in good hands with them and shouldn't worry too much about it. Let their lawyers deal with it

Ron,

It's ok to be a little loyal to a company for a few days

Jesus everytime a host, processor give a program some problems, you don't have to jump ship ASAP.

Wegcash, Jordan, etc have been around for many years...

Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM
NS2.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM

They got some pretty cool DNS servers, I didn't know those one's existed!

Sounds like a fair policy. However, the problem all large affiliate program owners have are their renegade affiliates that spam like crazy to generate signups. I know many look the other way, even though they always say if you spam your account will be terminated.

Its a big problem with our industry and not much can be done to stop it.

I'd have said it's anything but fair. It's a HUGE opening for anyone to close any domain on godaddy just because they don;t like the people running it. I'm amazed that with a policy like that anyone uses them.

Somebody pissed you off? See if their domain is with godaddy. Piece of piss to get them shut down it seems even if only for a short span of time.

It's a horrible policy.

Quite easy for people to get joe-jobbed or other malicious behaviour by anyone out there.

I'm sure if it happened to CJ.com that Godaddy would think twice about just downing the site without consulting a legal task force and CJ.

Sorry for posting links to another board - But I think in this case it is to show a little support to Weg cash and a barrel full of shit to godaddy.

Read these and you will make up your own minds about this fucking registrar

godaddy is wrong for suspending a domain like this. Especially without any kind of investigation, notification, and due process. They are ripe for a lawsuit on this issues. Hopefully WEG's legal team takes a nice bite out of them.

WEG's staff has been in touch with DirectNIC and we are helping them anyway we can. I know the guys at WEG and know they run a top notch orginization. Running one of the nets largest double opt-in mailers probably leads to problems from ignorant, or malicious surfers.

I personally have a few small 4free sites, and opt-in mailers and I know we still get random complaints from people who have opted in.

I know WEG will bounce back quick, they have a top notch staff...

Yes, Godaddy will change your nameservers on your domain and lock you out from changing it if people complain to them about spamming. It doesn't matter who the person is. So if you have even a newsletter that you send out and you use godaddy as your registrar and somebody complains, you could be gone!

Imagine if yahoo.com or hotmail.com was registered with godaddy, the domain would be shut down every other day.

Once wegcash pays the "spam fee" to godaddy to get their domain back, it will still take another 48 hours until the domain starts to resolve for everybody around the world. So they could be looking at a 4 day downtime.

that really is fucked up on GoDaddy's behalf. everyone should really complain to ICANN about this and they should NOT be allowed to do this!

I dont know what the ICANN registrar contract states but GoDaddy's T&C's cannot override them!

Further to my post above:

http://reports.internic.net/cgi/regi...lem-report.cgi

Although ICANN's limited technical mission does not include resolving individual customer-service complaints, ICANN does monitor such complaints to discern trends. If you would like to submit a complaint about a registrar for ICANN's records, please use the form below or send an email (including the information below) to <[email protected]>. As a courtesy, ICANN will forward your complaint to the registrar for review and further handling. (Please note that there is no guarantee that the registrar will reply.)

let's give ICANN a fucking trend :-)
