http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/19042.html
Hmm...the net gone by 2010? I doubt it..considering over 60% of the population has a comp simply becuase they think "everyone else has it, i need one too". I dont think the net has even come close to reaching its peak yet. What you guys think? |

Hmmmm.... that's an interesting article there. I don't doubt the fact that the net is going to evolve into something much better, about 10 years sounds about right.
As far as what it's going to evolve in, that's a good question. I think that they do have some good points there with their ideas on what's it's gonna turn into. The thing is that their focusing on all kinds of appliances being connected to the net, I don't doubt that, BUT that's NOT gonna be just what the net is for. Sure the net is gonna evolve, but I'm sure that the rest of us will evolve with it. See you in 2010 !!!! |

The guy saying that the net was borring and unintresting has defenetly never been to this board. heh..
There is no way that 10 years there will be no net. The stuff about all appliances and gadgets and what not of course is true but duh, anybody that has a pulse and any sence can see that it is going to be like that someday... ..but to say that there will be no form other then that of the web is nonsence.. It is just going to get bigger and bigger.. He is thinking in the wrong direction.. Stuff is going to be even more directed towards the web as we know it, and I dont think it will ever stop. There is always going to be some type of web regardless it be a chat room on your wrist watch or a video game pluged into your head causing virtual reality. I think the only thing that will stop this is the end of the earth and even then there will probably be civilizations on at least the moon.. maybe a diffrent planet.. or even a diffrent gallexy.. Thus keeping the web alive for other to enjoy and learn from.. ...oh yes, there will always be porn available to. Even the end of the earth cant stop that.. .. |

I think the net and television will become more and more meshed until most people are surfing with a television hybrid. Eventually each television show will have it's own "web page/channel" so instead of watching Survivor Thursday at 8, you'll watch it whenever you log on to that page that week.
Porn will still be going strong, though. ![]() |

I don't think the net will be gone by 2010 but will probably see a ton of changes. Also here is an interesting fact, less that 1% of the worlds population own a personal computer, heh, now I feel bad about having 2.

Just think how well we'll be able to sell live interactive sex shows that are beamed right into the idiot's, uh, surfer's brain.

Mmmmm roast beef for free every day?! Where do I apply?!?! Wonder if they still do it really rare?
I think when that guy said it would be dead, he meant more that it would be dead as we know it. Alot of you never saw the web in its real infancy for the publics use. It was more in the military style back then. DOS screens with prompts, no graphics except for ascii or rarely in ansii. If you didn't know where you needed to go (the url) then you were screwed. It was awhile before text menus came alone to help guide you to where you wanted to go. No need back then for a color monitor. ![]() This was after all a speedy way for the govt and the military to pass lengthy information to each other. Like they said when I finally made it to college. Computers were never meant to even show graphics. So even Autocad was a real conquest of the technology. BTW, do you know that they can't even explain how or why electricity works? ![]() |
