so paypal fucked me.

i use paypal for *everything* online. vhost customers pay me for hosting, i do freelance coding and rely on it for that, i accept website donations to my NON-ADULT website. however, i had the paypal donate button on one of my sites which someone posted a topless/nude chick (it was a non-adult site) and they caught it and suspended me. yeah, it sucks. so i thought all i have to do is email in, get the offending url(s) and fix it - which i did. but i'm provided no appeal and they're not answering emails like a human. so i'm fucked. they won't reopen it, and all it was was a single URL with one or maybe two pics on it that were adult. the account has been in fine standing for 3 years now, thousands of dollars in and out for all sorts of things, i have had no fraud and only a couple refunds. it's pathetic. none of the tenure and such is being considered, and obviously nobody has looked at my site since then because i do not have the paypal button anymore.

anyway, i browsed around GFY for paypal replacement threads and of course there's a mixed review of everything. so maybe i'll just say what i need an account for, and someone can tell me based on personal experience whether MB, allresell, yahoo paydirect, epassporte, or other programs will work. stormpay seems to be too unprofessional and it's outside of the US and seems a little bit too shady for me. this isn't just to process credit cards, either.

i'm going to list out the features i'm looking for that paypal provided so nicely... that don't seem to be all together in any other program that i know of yet (or that i've read)

- ability to instantly fund my account with credit card/bank money on demand.
- ability for any random user who wants to send me $50 or $5 donation to my website to signup quick and use his/her credit card or bank account to send it.
- i'd like to be able to withdraw using direct deposit OR snail mail check. having the option is nice.
- it would be nice to support international folks, but it is a slightly lower priority.

eventually if i did do some sort of membership-based site with recurring payments (which i had planned to do in the future, but again, non-adult right now) i'd want it to be easy for any college kid or 65 year old man to signup and start sending cash.

basically think paypal.

does epassporte make this easy? i read they don't do recurring payments. i'm sure that's in huge demand so it will be done soon...

basically i want it to be easy for people just to click a button and signup (if they're a first timer, or hell, signup could be optional if they just send me one time payment) to send cash, funded with a credit card of theirs or tied into their bank account.

everything seems to change every couple weeks and the last thread was well over a week ago with any sort of paypal talk using the search terms i searched on.

thanks.

(by the way, paypalsucks.com IS the real deal, the runaround shit they talk about is happening to me right now)

remember - i'm not just trying to look for paysite processing. i'm looking for general send/receive money functionality, i have people that are college kids who send me money all the way to adult website owners paying me for freelance work. basically all audiences.

Have you tried a merchant account? with shopping cart..

A non-adult merchant account doesn't cost anything, and a shopping cart system (non adult) like cart32.com is 20 bucks per month

It's pretty easy to get if you don't do Adult

then the onus is on me to setup a new "product" every time i do something for someone, like, i code a script... and make a special product called "script for steffie" and set the price?

i'd like to not get into recurring payments for the processor. the income is variable, some months i might not do any transactions if i'm not doing any work or anything. it's all on-demand type stuff (and i have no problem paying a little more in transaction fees for that)

you could, but it doesn't matter. they can freeze you any time for any reason.

at least i believe they've already cut me a check for the funds. it was only $108 but it's not totally lost.

the thing i don't like is i was told i could appeal, but they told me "no appeal" when they gave me the URL so i knew what violated it.

i told them on the phone i would start taking down paypal email addresses of people i don't like and making single page porn sites with their paypal info on it. because they'll get no appeal as well. the customer support guy said "if that's your perogative sir..."

pathetic.

the main downfall of ebay and paypal is that its almost impossible to get in touch with a human beging on either site... ebay can be easy if you are a powerseller but if not, its pretty hard to get a person to read or reply to your email... ive managed to do so before, but never with paypal... i think the hands off approach they have is alienating a growing number of people, especially since everyone knows how much they bank and that they could easily afford to provide better service and support... it wont be the end of ebay or paypal but it could help some competitors start coming up

not on the site that was "in violation"

on the other one, here and there, mainly because people who donate i mark their account as "premium" - so loosely-based account upgrades. again, this is just a mainstream non-adult community style site.

i figure if any group of people know the situation for billing companies on the net, it would be adult webmasters.

i want to find a single company i can use for all my ventures. be it "hey help me with this script" random people that i do some quick work for or setting up subscriptions for my site.

yahoo seems to be the most promising because almost everyone has a yahoo account already. so the first step is done in registration...

get enough guys together and start a class-action suit. even if a bank closes your acct they have to pay you the money, i don't give a fuck how many contracts you sign. the money was addressed, sent, and received by you. paypal has no discretion over that

if paypal ever tries that shit with me they can suck my nuts.

there's plenty of suits against them already.

basically they can say "he violated our AUP, he can go fuck himself" and i don't see how a judge will argue.

they cut a check for my funds and are holding it for 180 days i believe, but they've already emptied the account ($108 nothing huge, i never kept money in it FOR this reason) and it says a check was written for me.

it's just nobody else offers the same features and ease-of-use and THAT's my issue. i just want my account back.

people keep talking about it nonstop.

there's a big market for paypal alternatives even in the mainstream.

someone just fucking make it already.

or someone like epassporte copycat paypal's UI/ease of use and feature set and add it to your suite of offerings.

yeah it ain't no joke. i was always nervous about relying on them, but i wasn't doing anything wrong. one stupid pic fucked me.

but i guess it's good that it got me away from them, i just don't have anything else lined up i can start promoting/using. i'd probably be getting hundreds of users to start using it instantly. especially if it's as easy as paypal to setup and use.

the good news is, they didn't "freeze" my funds. they just closed the account. they cut me a check for the money in it and i just picked it up today. that must be record time for anything to get done.

oh i know. at first i was going to try to use the company directory/social engineering to get a direct line to one of the people on the compliance group (since nobody on customer support will route you to them - they "don't take phone calls") so i could talk to the goddamn human giving me copy/paste replies to my emails. but looking at paypalsucks i've decided to give up, they can pull the plug on me anytime, and i'm sure tons of people have tried my idea.

stormpay looked promising, but it's a little hokey. i tried it months ago and to fund my account i was sent off to a third party credit card processing site, which was hokey as well, it took over 24 hours for the funds to be usable ... it was a mess.

i'm surprised nobody has plugged epassporte so far. everyone knows on GFY people plug their friends/partners as a favor and shit.
