I cant get an email to the site either. The contact form does not work! Sombody with some smarts please check this guy out! http://freeporncity.cenhost.com/ Also, this same guy is using what appears to be using AP pics too. Do like the cammies do. Lock all your dirctories but one that you float with the images you need to use yourself! Have had alot of practice running these aholes down for the camgirlies ![]() |

BUZZZ!!
Stop, back up. "lock your galleries" How do you do that? What does it do? I know that must be the simplest thing to do, and I'm a jurk for asking but I never heard of that. I feel so stupid right now, I may as well have just asked you what the HREF tag does in html. ------------------ [email protected] LeeannOnline.com usexfan.com |

you can use htaccess to stop others hotlinking and still be able to hotlink your content yourself.

I really dont know to much about htaccess Ive only done a little bit of it...to redirect 404's and etc. Would I have to creat a file for every directory I have? When I make galleries, (about 2 a week) I create a brand new directory containing the html file and the images. This helps keep things organized for which different TGP's I submit to. The thing is...I have hunderds of different dirrectories containing images. Would I have to place a htaccess file into each one? Sorry for the technical questions...I would rather be posting about Spinach! |

Thats the exact reason the cammies use a generic htaccess file and float the directory they need to pull from Exxx! They hate having to try and write complcated ht files to allow themselves to have access and those files can be spoofed by a good linker unless the hoster has things set up right.
![]() Redshoe, look back over the last two days to see the htaccess files. Copy them as a x.txt file, edit, resave, upload and rename to htaccess with no dot anything. ![]() |

see http://www.amateurlodge.com/hotstop.txt
is what I use, I hotlink my pics across 3 domains. put in in your root dir, but if you use picposts you'll have to add them to it as well. the best way it to create a content folder that only you are allowed to hotlink from and put your htaccess in that folder, then it's easy to serve pics and banners from other dirs when you need to. Hope it helps. J |

But in this biz, you are constantly adding more and more sites you will need to load from, and that means every file has to be re-uploaded.
We tried it both ways but after reloading that htaccess for the 4000th time.... lol It's alot easier to just float a directory and change the name of it from time to time to prevent links. At least as far as I'm concerned. Normally you aren't loading those pics etc to other sites for a long period and can easily just swap the name of the directory as well as changing out it's content. |

Ok Gemini, I do use .htaccess I just didn't know that it was reffered to as a locked dir. Still learning the lingo.
![]() Which brings me to "float a dir" How do you do that? This is what I understand: If you put all your images into a directory, and call them from other directories, and domains you need to call them by one of two ways. The first being an absolut URL. (For different domains) example: http://www.domain.com/ht-protected-d...-set/image.jpg or local url (for within the doamin) example: /images/photo-set/image.jpg What I don't understand: Quote:

Oops! Float a directory is one of the old mans terms from way back. It means make a dir name such as dir04 and use it for a week. Next week or so change it to rover9. Just keep flipping the name to something that is so outlandish it'd be hard to figure out. Most pic posts etc only hold a pic for a week tops (same with your own sites usually). On your gals use ht to lock the dir's up tight even from yourself so it's that much harder to access. Just remember to have the index or whatever holds the pics in there!! We had that fun when he first messed with ht. Like WHY aren't they loading to us?!?!?
![]() So you'd already be uploading new pics for your own hotlinking purposes. (But not having to deal with complicated ht code or having to change all the ht files everytime you change setups to hotlink. Several cammies tried it after the old man thought it up and liked it alot better than dealing with codes they didn't wanna learn. I believe he got the idea from the building engineer that taught him computers for the first two years back in the 90's. So maybe some old ideas aren't dead yet. Been using that since 95 and very rarely have a ripper get us! ![]() [This message has been edited by Gemini (edited 04-27-2001).] |

Gemini =
I would suggest that you ask your host to create a virtual directory for your content. That is what we do on all our domains. You setup one directory within your filespace as your content, the host can then redirect that directory to be a virtual directory such as /pics that each of your domains can hit, and no matter how deep you are into your site you do a simple call to /pics/catagory1/pic1.jpg. Then all you have to do is add a line each time you add a domain to your site pool ![]() Tim |

Thanks Tim! He said that sounds like a plan. He had us setup with one like that from an old hoster but they got stupid and wanted to start charging as if that was a domain as well. lol
We don't usually hotlink pics much anymore or we do it from the open root of each domain itself and move them as needed. The float thing works running a cammie site tho. Or pulling logo's etc to other sites. He doesn't do pic posts either. But it's always good to have that sort of info if it is needed again in the future. Right now we have to finish the tussle with webair over the chat server! lmao |
