can someone help me with some digital cam. questions?!

hi fellow webmasters, want to start off by saying- go fuck yourself!
I've been lurking around for a while, finally thought i'd register.
Now for my question(S)...
I want to buy a digital camcorder that also takes still pictures.

First question- how do you take your digital recording and stick it on a VHS tape? Do these things just plug into a vcr?

Second question- do you know where i can get digital pictures developed other than kodak? they seem kinda pricy.

thanks in advance!
JR

Digital pictures don't need developing. I just plug my camera directly into my USB port and download all the images to a new folder each time, then with a click I can delete all the images on the camera's memory card, and it's ready to take a pile more pics. I open up me image editor (currently using Paint Shop Pro 7, sa-weet) and I do my editing of each pic for the net, and whamo, they're online lickety-split

Here's some recent pics I took for a local business man last week.... <a href="http://members.home.net/winnipegpages/brev_safi.html" target="_blank"><font color="#FFFFCC">Click Here</font></a>.... I had these up on the net in less than two hours after taking them.

I'm not sure about the video portion of your question, but hopefully the camcorder you buy will come with some editing software that will allow you to process and transfer to vhs. I believe that some camcorders (if not all) come with those small cartriges that you actually do the "filming" on (digital uses no actual film), and you can buy a special vhs tape that allows you to plug the small cartridge into it, then you can view your vids via your VCR.

Good luck man!

Well, then in that case, you need a good printer, and buy some nice high-gloss photo paper. The stuff I buy costs me about $1.30 a sheet, and the photo ink cartidges run anywhere from $40 to $70 (in Canada anyway).

Your days of getting film developed are over, mang

Ya, those blankets really rock, I'm hoping to get a few for backdrops, they'll make for some nice amateur photosets.

You need an ATI vidcard and then you can download digi, reg 8, hi8 and even your vcr tapes straight to your HD (if the HD is large enuff). There are several brands of vid capable vidcards but ATI is the best for the price. Go the highest vidRam on the care that you can afford for the best speeds in transfers.

Just sometimes takes a vid cable to connect odd cams. (The cards have several cables but the software might be extra) We shoot straight to the HD at times.

I'm surprised no one told you. You will get with your camcorder cables allowing you to connect to your VHS VCR. You can then hit PLAY on the camcorder and RECORD on the VCR and transfer the action to a VHS tape.

Also, you dont need to use your own printer to print pice for wifey. Nowadays you can copy the pics you want printed onto a cd or floppy, and go to most any drug store and the will print them to paper from the cd or floppy, not that expensive either...
