Have You Ever Made A DUMB Purchase?

So I come back from the casino the other night up about $700 so I decide to take my winnings and go shopping with my fiance. So she buys a bunch of stuff and I decide to go into Tommy Hilfinger to see what they have.

I find a great pair of cargo pants and try them on. Awesome fit so I say great, go up to the counter and then the price comes up.... $120!! LOL!

Being the jackass I am I figure they would be like $50-60 but I didn't look at the tag before I bought them. Anyways I didn't want to look like a cheapskate infront of the clerk and a bunch of other people so I bit my lip and bought them.

Anyways maybe $120 isn't much to some of you other big spenders but I think it's a bit much for fricking cargo pants. LOL! Anyways everyone at the office was laughing at me today because they heard I bought these expensive pants and was too much of a chicken to tell the clerk I didn't want them.

Just thought you guys would have a good laugh at my expense!

DH

P.S. I am wearing the pants as I type this!!

Hahaha... I was about to say the same.

I bought a pair of really ugly, red, wool Lithium pants for $60 or $65. I wore em maybe 3-4 times.

I bought a leather jacket for $800.

I've worn it a total of maybe 3 times in 6 years

I once bought this really nice suit while I was still going through coop at university. I then lost 50 pounds over one year and so it didn't fit. So I had to go buy a new one. I then started my company and have never had the need to wear it. So I now have 2 suits I never wear and they each went between $400 and $800. Great huh.

$800 for a LEATHER jacket is not a big deal to me because I know I will wear it ALOT.

But if I lived in Cali or somewhere down south where I might wear it a couple times of year I might be a bit upset.

I think $50-60 is my limit on jeans. I could spend $100 and get my use out of them easily, but I just don't see the need. Jeans usually last me 3-5 years easily.

I have spent thousands of dollars on kitchen related items over the years - pots and pans, Pyrex, bread maker, food processor, mixer, every gadget you can think of. I don't cook I just think it's neat, I buy it, use it once or twice then put it in storage.

Another time a girl scout came to our house selling cookies. She had like 3 boxes left (2 mint, 1 peanut butter). She sighed when I opened the door and I just could imagine the day she had had. So I said I will take all that you got left.

Little did I know she had set down a friggen huge box she was carring to the side of my door before she apparently took out a few boxes and knocked.

I went to go get my wallet and when I came back I saw what I was in store for. I guess she sighed in relief of setting the big box down.

This isn't a "purchase", but I paid in advance 6 months of GYM for my wife and I and we went for less than 2 weeks. We would get 6 more months free... but all my money went to the crapper

I paid for our driving lessons too July 2003... we still have to get them (and pay more of course).

I want them and everyone else around me to know that shit is ridiculously expensive. I'll follow that up with, "FUCK THAT, I'M GOIN TO THE GOODWILL TO DO MY CLOTHES SHOPPIN!"

I've worn the hell out of leather jackets that I've paid $30-100 for. The price has got to be right! If I were a millionaire I suppose I wouldn't care, but I'm a poe college kid right now.

That sounds like a sales technique. At least you have a big heart though. There's nothing stupid about that.

The thing with Hillfiger jeans and the like is you can go to a place like Ross a few months after they first "came out" and pick them up for 20-30 bucks. And who cares if they're not the latest fashion that month, pants are fuckin pants.

My first home (70K USD) my ex wanted it really badly, she totally loved it from when we saw it a few times and shit. I really never was 100% sure if it was my choice.....but....

The very night that I signed the papers I was sitting there TOTALLY regretting what I bought ( and blew 25k down on)...

10 months later I sold the house, made a few bucks and now im in the perfect house... I was REAL fucking lucky on getting out of a 70,000 fuck up, lol.....

I also did the same shit with the cargo pants, I just laghed and walked outta the store.... Never to return again to mall shopping.

DH, find a handful of clothing stores that carry the styles you like. Make friends with the owners. Shop regularly and ask for a discount and you'll get it.

Paying retail is stupid.
