MASSIVE class action Lawsuits on the horizon

http://www.reuters.co.uk/printerFrie...ryID =7141560

Maybe another asbestos or fen-phen type class action lawsuit frenzy 5 to 10 years from now?

I have cut back my cell phone use but a lot, keep seeing these comments popping up from time to time. I think there is something to it. It took years for them to admit to the Tobacco industrys wrongdoings. This one could be the next

so is that article stating that babies in the future are gonna either look odd or have health issues due to the the effects of electromagnetic radiation from the cell phones we use? If so, that's kinda scary. I have a cell phone in my car but only bought it for possible emergencies.

I don't think it matters if you use a cell phone or not, they have those huge towers beaming down on you every couple blocks anyway

Sure, it'll be tough to admit that - it's a 100 billion dollar industry.

You raise a good point, there are a few studies that link high electrical radiowave exposure with ill health effects. Apparently, everything is inconclusive at this point.

Think about this... at any given moment you not only have thousands of phone conversations bouncing through your body, you have whatever TV and radio locally, thousands of signals via other shortwave, public, private and commercial frequencies, leakage from various lines running around your home and work, thousands of signals in multiple bands beamed down by satellites that have gotten so powerful they can be picked up on a Walkman type device... it's all grown so fast and it would really surprise me if it was ever concluded that it has zero effect on the body. I think all of the above and the rampant use of steroids and anti-biotics in meat production are prime suspects in the increase in cancer these days and other health problems.

I believe you and agree with you. Unfortunately, SCIENTIFIC cause/correlation is not equivalent to LEGAL cause. If it were, the tobacco cases would have been brought in the 1940's instead of just recently. Same with asbestos.

I don't see anything coming of this. Cell phones will be a 'use-at-your-own-risk' type of device. I've heard that cell phones aren't good for you because of signals it sends thru the body years ago. But it's something we've grown accustomed to and something many of us require. They also say sitting in front of a monitor that gives off radiation isn't healthy yet millions spend hours in front of one every day (like many of us).

It's a billion dollar industry, without people dying left and right, and personally I find I basically need a cell phone to do business. If it took decades to crack down on cigarette companies, where the negative effects of smoking are so much easier to pinpoint, there isn't a chance that attacking cell phone companies will fly.

There's a big difference between having a transmitter next to your head, and one located some distance away.

I'm a bit rusty on my physics but I think that if the distance is doubled, the power loss is actually 4 times. It's an exponential dropoff, not linear.

This really isn't new news, but it's been really hushed up here in the states.

For years I've been thinking this has the potential to make the tobacco litigation look like Small Claims Court

Food for thought-
I and two of my best girlfriends live very close to a line of power lines. I live closest to the lines, like, maybe 50 yards away, and my buddy Angel lives about 300 yeards away from the power station. The other, Stacy, lives in between us, so all of us are within a half mile of each other.
We all got pregnant with twins....I lost one of mine very early in the pregnancy. Stacy had hers 2 months early, and one is really developmentally challenged and had already had a brain tumor (he's 6 now). Angel had hers at 24 weeks gestation-that is 16 weeks, almost 4 months early. One died, and the other is an absolute miracle-healthy and smart.
Now what are the changes of three friends ALL getting pregnant with twins within 5 years, and all of them going into labor early or losing one of them, and out of the two remaining sets, one of them being very challenged or not surviving.
Makes you wonder.

High energy will be dangerous it's well documented and with the phone so close tothe brain i am sure that is enough to classify as high energy as far as the brain is concerned...

FYI....
Cell are not the only devices that emit electomagnetic radiation.
Most electrcal devices give it off like T.V, computers, security panels in stores, radios etc. Your body also give off a small amount of electromagnetic radiation.

Yeah, the towers aren't the bad part, unless of course you are standing too close to them. (which you would notice, as you start to smoke).

It seems pretty logical that having a transmitter stuck to your head all day would cause some issues, so just buy a $5 headset and your head will be safe.

Of course, since I'm typing this from a laptop, on my lap.... I'm still gonna have 3 eyed kids

You guys just made me think of when I used to walk my son to the bus stop, when he was 5 or 6, if I touched him under the power lines it felt like nails on a chalkboard...like two pieces of rubber dragging across each other. I hated to give him a hug or kiss goodbye under there because it felt so alien.

Some cell phone manufacturers actually even add warnings about it and recommend using a headset.

That will happen with GSM phones (ATT, Cingular, T-Mob etc...) when you send an sms or use the net stuff as well.

I always tell friends & family to use a headset with their cell phones. I've seen the photos from scientific test they've done where they expose a rat to an activated cell phone for a few short minutes. After the exposure, they slice the brain apart cross-sectionally, and you can see in vivid detail how certain parts of the brain are literally cooked. Why anyone would hold a microwave transmitter up to their heads, I don't know? ..Not only that, you are holding it right to your ear, which is a "direct" pathway into your brain ..no scull bone, or much else to absorb or minimize the exposure.

I try to use a headset all the time, it just drains my battery faster.

What freaks me out is the HORRIBLE noise it makes when my cell signal goes through any powered speakers, like my pc speakers or ps2 setup. The only thing that makes them buzz worse is the police scanner that runs by at 2:30am. If the radiation is strong enough to make shielded speakers buzz and a shielded monitor to fuzz up, think of what that's doing to the soft tissue in your head! ack!

Why is RFSafe.com offline? Hmm...

How could a headset offer no protection?

At that point it shouldn't be any worse than using a walkman.

This is the smart way to go. However, even with warnings... as car manufacturers found out the hard way, there is a body of law that focuses on DEFECTIVE warnings (ie., insufficient or not specific enough)

Doesn't make much sense to me either, but I've read/heard it a few times over the years....I'll try and find articles.

the negative wire in the headsets are grounded to the phone's ground circuit which also is used for sending signals.

Honestly, I think you're understating the point. But one thing to keep in mind is that this very serious issue has gotten very little play in mainstream US media outlets. It's pretty hard to disbelieve/deny a concept that you haven't heard about, eh?
