New law change.

It is deemed that counties/cities/states can overturn federal law.

It is now a crime to have and/or perform an abortion in:

Rester County, MA
Boron, CA
Takell, GA
and many others coming.

Punishment:
Perform abortion: up to death sentance
Have abortion: same as involuntary man slaugter.

Anyone else see this shit on MSNBC tonight?

Comments?

No they have more. I think it was Lancaster county or that whole area. True, small BUT it points out a disturbing trend.

Another example: It is illegal to own an online casino. Federal Law. But here in Nevada, we overturned it and made it legal.

United States is not so united anymore.

DId you hear about this chick on CNN who got a doctor to abort a baby in the last thingie (forgot name but was 8 months old).

wierd.

Involuntary manslaughter? well that makes a lot of sense. I mean if they are going to make a criminal charge, and not use murder as one, how about voluntary manslaughter anyway. Involuntary makes no sense at all.

Baddog, this topic will always be a tough one, even for a liberal-minded adult community. Even among the pro-choice camp there is a huge diversity of opinion, which thankfully we are entitled to as Americans.

On one hand, I think we are all pro-life in the most liberal and normal sense of the word...I like my life, and I'm sure you like yours. I love babies, having given birth to two of them myself, I am profoundly aware of the implications of abortion. A potential baby dies, no doubt. For this reason, I am not pro-abortion. I don't think abortions should be taken lightly, or used indiscriminately as birth control. I am not in favor of abortions past 12 weeks.

On the other hand, I am very pro-choice, and I support, and will continue to support a woman's right a choose whether to carry a baby to term or have an abortion.

As a woman, I applaud men like you who support a woman's right to choose. Generally, I DETEST the predominately white, Republican legislators who would deny women the right to choose, who would force a woman to bear and birth an unwanted baby without much financial assistance, with little regard for the quality of the life that is born.

I don't detest Dave Thomas however...as an adopted child, he made adoption as an alternative to abortion a priority in his life, and I applaud his activism as a positive attempt to provide an alternative. Yes, he was supportive of the "pro-life" agenda, with which I cannot agree, but I see his efforts to mitigate the harsh reality of his no-choice stance as better than anything Senator Jesse Helms, our own Osama Falwell and Osama Robertson, Ayatollah Orin Hatch, and the rest of that crew ever came up with.

It is involuntary manslaughter because they did not MEAN to get pregnant. If they meant to get pregnant, then got an abortion, it would then be voluntary manslaughter, or possibly murder one if they could prove it was premeditated.

Anyone watch the O' Reily Factor the other day when they had on the leader of the pro-life extremist group on?

Think group was 'The babbash' or some shit.

There is evidence that they plan to execute a massive plot against abortion doctors.

I think this is a common misconception made by right to lifers. Being Pro-Choice in no way implies that someone in pro-abortion. It only implies that women should be given an alternative to having an unwanted, undesired, unloved child.

I agree to womens right to choose if she was raped, for say 18 hours.

If it is a couple, then it should be by approved by both parties.

Abortion is good birth control for stupid people. Without it, there would be more toothless crackers with no education running around.

Do they have abortion in Mexico? Seems like there is way to many mexicans trying to cross the border these days.

I think someone mentioned this earlier, but it is truly ironic that right to lifers feel the need to murder in order to further their cause.

with logic like that, who needs Constitutional rights?

Yes orignally it was in a way. Back in 6000 BCE the phone book as we now know it was actually the slave book. It used to list the group and hut number of slaves.

Around 10 CE, Micheal Gorbishiv revived the book and called it 'Numbers'.

77 CE, Joshua Himmel, a prominent Rabbi, ordered the book to be included in the Tora. However, that was not done until later when Christianity formed. They added it to the Old Testament.

In 1977, the Mormons who populated Utah became infatuated with Las Vegas. The lights, the shows and the GAMES. The tabernacle later formed many get rich quick systems designed at beating the 'house'. The then incorporated it into the book of Numbers in their Book of Mormon with the idea that when Mormons win, they will tithe. These offerings could then be rolled up to take over the Cola industry.

Right-to-lifers who kill abortion doctors ARE terrorists in my book...with an unyeilding sense of fanatisicm identical to the terrorists we are fighting in the Middle East.

Evidentally killing doctors who do abortions can be classified as a HATE crime which I belive warrants stronger penalties.

Also there was an interesting case on this back in 1986 Morgan vs State of Ohio.

Very interesting.

Over every major American city because all the small town doctors have been bullied, scared and terrorized out of performing abortions. Even in Ashland, Oregon, population 20,000, we had an abortion clinic arson fire a couple of years ago. Most girls in America have to travel a distance now to get an abortion, a simple and relatively easy legal medical procedure, complicated now by the expense and time of travel on top of the mental anquish of having an abortion in the first place. I consider the doctors who continue to perform abortions heroic for continuing on, despite obvious risks of premature death, societal distain, and harrassment.

of course not, that would cut into their pool of suicide bombers and public execution candidates. They would have to go back to soccer for entertainment, and that just does not pull the same kind of gate receipts.

Sadly, I hate most lawyers as much as the general public. A few lawyers get taken out every year, mostly by angry husbands in divorce cases, and most of them don't deserve it, but the lawyers who DO deserve a nice scalping live on and on....

Since the subject seems to have turned to attorneys:

What is the difference between a tick and a lawyer?

A tick falls off of you when you die.

Why does the law society prohibit sex between lawyers and their clients?

To prevent clients from being billed twice for essentially the same service.

What do you call a lawyer who doesn't chase ambulances?

Retired

Present company excluded of course.

Unavoidable...you are so bad...tease me more!

Back to the topic at hand. Lawyers were an intergral part of changing the laws regarding abortion rights....without lawyers Roe V. Wade would have never happened. I remember when abortion was illegal. The sigh of relief among educated liberal women when abortion was de-criminalized in 1973 impacted even me. I was 15 then, and it was big news at the time.

well, while there can be arguing that point, if it were not for lawyers there would also be no laws restricting the ability to obtain or perform abortions, and of course, there would be no Supreme Court to rule on issues like Roe v. Wade, or to possibly overturn rulings like it.

which reminds me of something I heard in court once. What do you call an attorney with an I.Q. of 50? Answer: Your honor.

So right...I knew there was that glitch in my argument...our government, the decision making bodies, the Courts, are filled through and through with lawyers. It takes a lawyer to undo what another lawyer has done, I agree! smile

So, I guess the answer is to come up with a test that can be given to a woman early enough in her pregnancy to determine if her unborn child will end up being a Republican, an attorney, or a right wing fanatic. That way the mother can make an educated decision as to whether or not to keep the child.

Well, that is kind of funny, as I agree about the Republican and right wing fanatics, and my PARENTS would agree with you about the lawyers. smile My mother and father were not stoked about me going to law school. My father's highest and best goal for me was a "nice job in a bank" and marriage to a suitable logger, and my mother literally moaned "Nooooo" when I told her I was thinking about law school. Too funny!

Oh you are too funny...my mother is appalled that I am a porn lawyer, and tries hard to convince herself I'm just doing business law for the adult industry, which is still too much for her to bear. She even suspects I might be well known, which is even worse. smile She tells me she doesn't know where I came from...(and she's not joking).

uh, yeah, sorry, did not mean to imply that your mother would sink to any level lower than her position in life . . . it wes my mother that was not sure if it was mailman, milkman, etc . . . but when you have 12 kids, it is hard to keep track of who the father might be

Yea. All you are doing is providing law services to people. What is the difference from an adult company or a criminal or other business.

What religion is she? Jeh0vah W1tn3ss?

Tough issue.
In order to understand the "religious right" you need to grow up in a "religious" household.
Throughout the 80's I was indoctrinated by my father and the parish of our local Assembly of God church.
I was part of that whole spin the record backwards and hearing satanic messages group...LOL.
When discussing issues like these those that live and breathe the church are fond of making these issue black and white. The reason being is because of scriptures in the bible that call Jesus the light and state things like (paraphrasing here) "where there is light there can be no darkness."
But what I learned was that might be true in the world of gods but here in the world of man the quote should read "where the is light there can be no darkness, but there are SHADOWS."
Our world is filled not with just black and white, but varying degrees of grey. We have plenty of shadows.
My point can be best described by telling you a true story about abortion and our family.
The ironic thing about life is that you and your belief system will be often tested and that is exactly what happened to my father.
My younger brother who is "troubled" to say the least got his girlfriend pregnant in the early 90's.
My father knowing my brother who even though he had reached the age of majority was not mentally or financially prepared to raise a child knew that there were limited choices in how to handle this delicate issue.
My father who just a few short years earlier was staunchly pro-life was now calling me looking for help in funding the pending abortion.
My brother and his girlfriend raised the money and the abortion was performed and a sad part of our family history was created.
I am like a lot of others here who do not like the idea of abortion being used as a means of birth control. I would like to see something like this only be used in cases of extreme need, whether that be medical reasons etc.
But I am pro-choice because I haven't had to walk in the shoes of those who had to make this tough choice and pray to God I won't ever have to.
