They shut off numerous account on trumped up accusations last month of spamming, or other supposed AUP violations. Without any prior notification, giving a whopping 15 minute notice to those affected. Turning people off at 11:45pm on a Friday. 11:45pm on a Friday, good business practices?

I believe the guys from JuicyBucks would have a few words to insert on this also.

JUSTB quit there a couple weeks ago, and I am sure she could put in some more details also.

These are all events that usually lead up to something, in my opinion.

Gentlemen, due to AUP violations we have no alternative but to close your account with our company. Effective midnight tonight 07/15/05, your servers will be disconnected. Please call the NOC at 813-221-4429 to make arrangements to pick up any colo servers.

Please note, colo servers will not be released until account is paid in full. While we don't enjoy doing business like this, you have left us with no other alternative.

Sincerely,
Sharon Memmer and Charles Charmatz
PowerMedium, Inc.

The one thing I can say is back in the day the customers were taken care of by sales and tech. In my opinion, it does not matter who you are, you're just another piece of shit customer in their eyes.

We had servers there for 5 years, and knowing my history with the company (i.e built it from nothing)... They did me the great pleasure of shutting all of our servers off knowing we were all in Europe and there was nothing we could do until Monday (eons in internet time)

I e-mailed the owner Lucas, who said he had no idea what happened, and he would resolve it. With this statement it was clear to me the decision was an autonomous action made by the minions in Tampa. As I stated above, the complete disregard for people's businesses and the "who gives a fuck attitude" is something to watch out for.

We ended up moving all of our stuff to another Tampa host which I highly recommend. A network built by a real network admin (not one big LAN). The guy we deal with is also a Candid person that was there from the beginning - Russ. http://www.sagonet.com

When I was with Candid Hosting (Power Medium) David D was the only one who knew what he was doing. I went through so many different tech's there I got fed up cuz known of them knew anything. Do not get a box here.

Hey, long time no speak

When I left, a lot of people split, but some stayed. I would merely state that if they did this to me, I feel they will do it to anyone.

There are plenty of other hosts out there, with better networks, and employees who understand what makes a company (the customers).

Thanks for the kind words David.

Russ and I are always around and available to discuss anything, and from both of us being at Candid before the "dark times", we know exactly what is needed and what it takes.

Thanks again, glad we could help out.

Amazing how all we former Candid people have moved on to bigger and better things.... we all had a nice little reunion in Miami. It was cool hanging with all you guys who were around back in the good days.

I was in that same boat - and DavidD help me so many times I cant count them all - finally got rid of my last server there in June - and havent looked back - my new box is half the price and twice the power, 5 times the capacity and 10 times the speed with Apache2 and Tux - moving all of my servers over but will never go back to Candid/PM

Different Segment?

That would require routed subnets, which is something that is hard to find in them there parts.

Givin a few props to Jason...he got my 4x the disk 2x the ram and 10x the band width for half the price....so far Im pretty happy with sagonet and with Jason...when I really need something support wise or whatever the dude doies always come through for me...thanks brudda

Dude, you know I love you.

I have been going non-stop... I do not even call my family anymore. I am coming out your way soon to hang out with my California people! I will call you when I am back in the USA.

Dropping you an e-mail now!

Hey, former employess etc from candid I would be interested in talking to you. I may have positions available. Of course I would love to have more customers, but most people know what I do. so I will leave that alone. My hope is that all have found hosts and jobs.

Candid was so impressed with Marlin they were going to a partnership with them. Partial buyout. The facility is one the nicest I have seen, and backed with a shitload of cash.
