That´s fine, but there is no need for the comparison. It doesn´t help someone in africa letting an animal suffer elsewhere.

And my experiences have been that most people using this argument won´t help anyway and just use it as an excuse not to help. I´m working for different charity organisations in my sparetime and have heard it the way you said it here as well as the other way round.

I've read too many horror stories about aid to Africa being taken by the corrupt governments. Even large charities get their shipments looted and it never reaches the people who need it.

http://www.give.org is a good place to see what percentage charities spend on actual recipients and administrative fees.
