Truth?

No.

Maybe better as a public poll?

I used to mail alot. There's lots of big sponsors who I think were built around(before it was illegal).

I created one of the first winsock mailers back in like 1996-7, it used netscape.com as the mail host. It was open and you could just spam millions of mails through it.

I remember getting my first check from mr-cash, think it was around $9,000 for a week. $90-$180 per signup, good stuff

Sent a couple thousand emails to a coworker once. That's about as close as it gets for me.

Nope, but a few fake password sites with fake links to my own domains full of shitty xpics and babylon x banners...back in the time when an adult site on it's own domain got 20k hits with 30% CTR the second day with little promo...and fucking hosts that closed you down for getting that much traffic.

In 1995 I got this new program free on a download that would send 50K an night. Sent out the first batch, and promply got my connection killed by BellSouth the next day. Never did it again.

Never spammed for adult, but did send a lot of "targeted" bulk UCE (mainstream stuff) back when the web was new. I didn't know any better and figured "Hey, these people are already interested in what I'm selling, why not?" We're talking maybe 2,000 e-mails a run.

Back before I knew what it really was.. I bought one of the mailing programs and a starter mailing list from someone on this forum. At the time I didn't realize the way they spam by proxies was actually trojans on people PC's.

After I found that out I ended up giving up on the spam idea. Guess my conscious got the best of me. I never ended up sending a single e-mail.. lol so much for that $500 that I spent.

Call me naive but at the time I thought open proxies were, actual proxy web servers and not infected PC's. If it wasn't for that fact I wouldn't have any issues with spammers or spamming, but I just don't agree with infecting people PC's with trojans.
