Seriously thinking of relocating to Costa Rica

Sick and tired of the burdensome bullshit that various levels of government in the U.S. continue to impose.

It's not just 2257, it's not just the UIGEA, it's the fact that if you attempt to start a business in just about any city you have to jump through hoops. The list goes on.

A good buddy of mine here in Vegas, started a dog grooming business in California, after about 3 days of trying to get licenses and shit he finally said to one of the clerks..."Okay, I get it. You don't want me to start a business here." LOL

Just because you go offshore, you don't escape 2257. If your customers are in the US, you need to comply with 2257. At least that is my understanding.

Consult an attorney to be sure.

No need to concern myself with 2257...and the reason I am considering going there is not because of 2257.

However, stuff like 2257 continues to confirm my reasons for wanting to get out of here.

I love how people think moving to a place like costa rica makes it a magical playland. Theres bureaucracy and red tape there too.

It'll pay to learn Spanish too. This year Spanish knocked English out out of the #2 position for most native spoken language in the world.

Before you up and move, go down and spend a month living there. See how you like it. Make sure its for you.

Really? You mean I can't go there and produce snuff films? Or open up a baby selling business? What shall I ever do?

You think it'll be easier opening a business here?

I primarily play poker online...which is why I made mention of the UIGEA...so I think it would be nicer to live in a place with a lower cost of living, in a country that I can still easily fund my poker accounts, and gain access to sites that no longer accept U.S. citizens.

Isn't Panama a better option for that? They are supposed to be a lot cheaper than Costa Rica...
