Google PR question

I know this might be a stupid question, but here goes..

Say I have a site that has PR 4 with google...
Now if that site gets listed in both dmoz and Yahoo, what effect would that have on the PR?
They each give like 1 point, or?

From what I understand, the PR is figured as an average....No site specifically gives you a 'point' in PR if you get linked/listed...but getting listed + your current PR might push you over the 'edge' and bump your PR up a notch.

From my experience, I usually get a new domain and then get submitted into Yahoo/DMOZ. Yahoo alone usually gets a +2. DMOZ I found a +1. Get into both and it usually works out to +4. So it's not an even spread, it really is a complex calculation based on all links to you. The more quality links coming to you, the more your ranking will go up.

WG,

just a quick question, in these times how important is having
unique IP's,, i got ton's that are IP less domains and wanted to make sure that there is nothing wrong with that as long as its good web pages and not doorways

I believe based on experience, that unique ip's help and differnt class of IP's really helps. Based on what happened recently with google, it seems that you can get good ranking on the first update, but on further updates, google tends to weed out domains with Consecutive ip addresses that link together.

virtually hosted sites have the ability to do well, but long term rankings aren't likely.

I have several pr5+ sites and used to have hundreds, the ones that continue to do well are ones in different class ip addresses and the ones that fell were consecutive ip's.

My theory is that you really need to trade links with other sites in the same niche as you with high page ranks. Do a search for coffee on google and the #1 result is starbucks. They have a shitload of incoming links just from people linking to them from relevant sites.

If anyone has some mainstream High PR sites and would like to trade let me know.

Playa> To be honest, it would seem to have an affect on adult websites but non-adult sites has no effect. A little confusing, so let me try to clarify.

I believe for adult websites, having more IP's from multiple IP classes does matter, but for non-adult websites I don't believe this to be true. I know this doesn't seem to make much sense since what does Google consider to be "adult", but this is the conclusion I've come to from my experience.

For example, I have about a dozen websites, all non-adult on a single server with 1 IP. The PR's all range from 4-6 on these without a problem.

For adult though, I did the same and could never break PR=3. I started to break off some sites into different IP's, not changing link strategies and my PR has gone up a notch to 4 and on one occassion 5.

That's why I came to the above conclusion.

Hope this helps.

strange how google has a different approach to adult websites,,maybe they understand that most adult sites are on dedicated hosting rather the typical cheap virtual sites

I think Google was designed to screw with SEO's heads. I bet ya they are just kicking back and watching us trying to get better placement and getting off by our frustrations. I hate google sometimes.

Can someone with the toolbar post the PR of some of the Sex Tracker top sites, just to give me an idea of who's got what. For example:

Persian Kitty
Green Guy
The Hun
Sleazy
World Sex
Voyeurweb
Pichunter
Raw Pussy
JJJ

And what about SexTracker.com? Every big site links to them.

The Hun and PK are both PR=6. It's a lot easier to download the bar yourself. Goto Google.com and search for Google search bar and download. Plugs right into IE.

Thanks!

Damn, what does it take to get a 7+ then? Sextracker is linked from almost every one of the big (traffic) free adult sites on the web, it seems like they should be higher.

It takes someone with a PR of 7+ to link to you. Given that Playboy.com is the only site I know with PR=7 that's in the adult biz, you're pretty much capped at 6.

Completely untrue. We have a lower average PR. There are other adult sites with PR7. And I aim to be among them eventually.

Unless your getting linked from a mainstream site with PR>7, I would like to know your plan on getting your site up to 7, or even naming a porn site with PR>7.

Yeah, the algorithm is rather simple, just a lot of calculations involved. I guess that's where my degree in Combinations and Optimization kicks in, but generally it's quite simple. I have tons of other articles printed up on Google since that article was published a few years ago. I don't have them here off hand, but if you want them, ICQ me tomorrow and I'll get them for you.

JanesGuide.com and SuicideGirls.com are the ones that came to mind at the moment.

Edit:: Also AVN.com

Funny that we don't have a way to use page rank as an express filter though.

I think I want to be able to do this. Yes.

I want to be able to combine google's

'http'

search which returns pagerank with any topic. We should all be able to do this. All that takes is spidering the http search to a depth of 7... oh great... it cuts off right about there.

Ok... using the google API you can set where in the results records you want to start... So using google API and perl you could pull down ALL the PR 7 sites, throw them in SQL textfields and search for porn words. I'm just not sure how many there are.
maybe as many as 10,000?
