Who would win GSP or Anderson Silva?

If George st. pierre wins his next fight against BJ Penn which i think he will he should fight Tiago Alves to clear out that weight class. GSP has metioned that he would like to fight Silva at some point. I think that match up would make for one of the greatest fights ever. Im a huge fan of GSP but this would defintaley be a dangerous apponent for him. I would give Silva the odds of winning ( 2 to 1). Wut do you think??

For Anthony:

I say Anderson Silva... he's insane ...

I'd take GSP on this one, allthought he dosen't seem to like getting it, it could go either day. Silva dosen't have the greatest TD defense.

i think it would depend on which weight class they fight in
those two are so evenly matched that weight cutting/ giving up weight advantage would have a significant difference to the fight.

I agree silva's take down defense isn't that great and GSP will expose that for sure. GSP is very smart and good at following through with his game plan. Silva look somewhat uncomfortable his last fight against cote.

Silva, but any way he wants.

Silva walks around at 220lbs + and cuts down to 185.

Silva = better stand up
Toss up on the ground, I would give the nod to GSP on takedowns, but even on BJJ. I think Silva all things considered with the longer limbs and bigger.

I'm not so sure GSP will beat BJ Penn, to be honest.

But if GSP and Anderson Silva did fight, I'd have to give it to Anderson Silva. GSP has better wrestling, but people often forget about Silva's ground game. His striking is so good that people forget that he can submit most people as well.

Either way, it would be an awesome fight. GSP and BJ Penn is gonna be fucking awesome too

yeah people are talking too far ahead here, bj penn will be a tough fight for him, given that penn doesn't slack in training as he has in the past. GSP doesn't seem to go up and down in weight too much, I've seen this guy in training and he seems like he's at fight weight constantly... be interesting to see what happens if he went up in class...

I would love to see that fight! I think we will see Anderson Silva v Chuck Liddell first however.

but Silva against much smaller Sakurai was pretty much a tie half way thru the 3rd round before Sakurai tried a risky submission and gave up his back.. Also, a 43yo wrestler Hendo never really was dominating at a slim 185lbs so Im not sure why Silva is so much hyped.. I actually think Machida would win over Silva at the same weight but one thing is sure,
theres absolutely NOTHING proving that Silva is better than Machida and we know how the much bigger Machida (at 205?) vs Penn fight went. I also think GSP is considerably superior to Penn now so in a fight between two 185lbs I would actually favor GSP. Silva is overhyped guys

I'm going with GSP. I think he would take Anderson down and let him get up and take him down again until he was tired and then GnP him to a TKO.

Take that with a grain of salt though since I am a Canuck. I like them both but GSP is GSP and he trains with Greg Jackson which really elevates his game. Not to mention all the time he spends in Brazil these days.

That was some time ago, even the Ryo Chonan fight can be argued that Silva was still learning the trade. I cannot agree with you about overhype, Silva has destroyed everyone put in front of him.

I do agree that GSP will give BJ fits, but even then, both fighters have progressively better. It's one of those up in the air fights, and one I can't wait to see.

First off I like GSP a lot but I also like BJ Penn a lot. BJ Penn is no easy task for GSP and vice versa. This will be an epic fight, toss up to decide the winner.

Now to the point... how could GSP ever fight Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva in my mind is a light-heavyweight fighting in the middle weight class.

The three previously mentioned fighters are amongst my favorite 3 in the UFC but Silva would destroy GSP.

I agree 100% Silva bigger, stronger -equally (possibly more) skilled....

Overhyped as in p4p... the guy is great BUT Fedor takes it by a mile... Silva fights underweight because he relies mostly on Muay Thai and BJJ and doesnt need the muscles wrestlers need... but lets be honest, the guy has a 205lbs frame... Fedor at 6" has also a 205lbs (skeletal) frame and could make that weight if hed go for a more lean, ripped look.. And needless to say, Fedor would ground and pound him 99 out of 100...

But 185lbs slim Hendo at 43yo, Franklin (who has he beaten?), Maquart, Lutter, Leben, Cote... I dont care how dominating he was, I need to see him beat a guy his own size, and a top one at that to consider him top 2 p4p ....Sadly, in the UFC right now, theres no clear cut great in the mw and lhw but a fight and a win agaisnt Machida could convince me..

I think GSP and BJ Penn have improved since there first fight but overall i think GSP is a total different fighter now and BJ is just in better shape than before. I think GSP will win against BJ in a very tough fight.

If GSP doesnt fight Silva I hope UFC's new fighter Denis Kang will fight Silva down the road. He has all the tools to beat Silva as long as he's riding high on his confidence. This guy was ranked in the top 5 at MW not too long ago winning 23 fights in a row (9 of them in pride). He's a jui jitsu black belt, explosive striking, good wretling, and is training with GSP and his camp for the last year.

Did you miss the destruction of Sean Sherk by BJ?

Denis Kang is an American Top Team Fighter. He may have GSP as a training partner, but his Camp is ATT. You can guess where I train.

Ok, excellent, I agree with you. I think Fedor has proven way more in his fights who is P4P.

Funny how many people think GSP will easily beat Penn. Penn has always fought without training or dieting right and he would get FAT just to fight guy like Hughes and GSP if not contending but sometimes winning. If Bj gets to weight without getting fat somehow I give him a 50/50 chance of beating GSP. His hands, flexibility, and bjj are FAR superior. its a weight issue.

Im aware of that, he did have trouble training in the states due to his visa issues. That is why he went to montreal to train with GSP for his last 3 fights. I know Denis because he is part owner of the gym i taught at in vancouver.

Like i said I think GSP will beat BJ in a tough fight. Both of there skill levels are close except GSP is physically bigger. BJ and Sherk wasn't a blow out either or else BJ would have beat Sherk in the first round. I thought BJ definately was winning but sherk wasn't ever out of the fight till the end.
