first step towards a real solution,

DVD licensing groups need to quit bulking out non-exclusive DVDs with seemingly no online restrictions for cheap.

i remember a time when content had restrictions like, only % can be on hosted galleries or tour. not sure what changed there, but if you look at Pornhub for example, there is alot of content they most certainly did buy and then branded with PornHub ( Not saying all content, saying certain DVD content )

it will change when these DVD producers realize that letting the liscensors sell their old dvd's for dirt cheap for a little profit will only hurt their future production model.

you don't see all of Juggcash newest content up there for a reason, alot of old content is out there for legal use and its all just huge filler. I guess if its free and its full length, won't matter if it's exclusive or not.

as long as they can say they licensed this content and actively respond to DMCA / remove requests, don't expect the model to fail.

well said, that's why they are still recession proof on some level. Its not like there is a stripper or pro giving it away on the hope you buy something else.

I still don't get why so many people blame tubes when it's the US economy that has been the main issue (tubes are a small one).

#1 - Foreign sales have been increasing for most adult industries and products

#2 - Banks in the US killed a lot of people's credit cards or lowered their limits. Many paysites are not using much alternative billing methods. I bet if you compare the ones who do offer many alternatives (900, echeck, sms) to ones who pretty much only accept credit cards, the sales drop was a lot bigger for the credit card only people. Basically, even people who still wanted to purchase, couldn't because they were maxed out (buying things like, you know, food) or declined.

#3 - People looking for tube sites generally know they are going after free content. Their intention is not to pay for porn. These people were never going to pay anyways (the exception being a small % if you sell something good enough, or micro-niche enough it's not all over the tubes yet). The same applies for P2P and Torrents.

#4 - Due to the economy, more people who either couldn't afford or couldn't buy porn (see reason #2) began to become the type of person described in #3. This is why tube sites are seeing huge rises in traffic.

#5 - Programs feeling the hurt have been increasing their shady practices. Shaving in particular. This makes affiliates' sales and revenue even more magnified. This is not a conspiracy theory, this is indeed fact and though I won't name any names, I have noticed the code myself of certain programs (since I do freelance coding from time to time). I also have access to stats across a huge range of programs and months of history on the traffic and drops in sales/recurring sales.

In the end, the economy is the underlying factor and people adapt in different ways. Tube sites sprung into action taking advantage of a larger userbase; many programs responded with short-term practices in shaving and real hidden cross-sells (I have no problem with typical cross-sales, but I've heard of some company selling audio books and charging the mainstream consumer's card for adult paysites LOL)

You could come up with the next big thing and take advantage of where things are headed. You could secure your content using newer DRM technology or help evolve further technology - adult in the 90s was a pioneer in technological advances, but now it is lazy and just copies large ideas mainstream is doing first. You could also just sit back and wait it out and hope the economy rebounds (which I've noticed lately it is slightly).

Or, you could bitch all day long on GFY

/Rant Done.

For those saying it's the economy hurting sales and not tube sites, answer me this.

How will cam sites survive? Are you saying they will go under because of the economy? They cost $200 an hour or more. So if you are saying people can't afford $30, then they surely can't afford $200 an hour.

Yet everyone seems to think cam sites are the only sites that will survive. So which is it? Can't have it both ways.

i kind of find it funny everyone is blaming tube sites, when rapidshare, megaupload, and thousands of torrent sites have every single movies and picture from any paysite, studio, company with one quick download, in one neat archive file....its easier & faster than taking out credit card, feeling out credentials, waiting for activation...this is the reality.

If we're losing sales to Tubes it's our fault. They're shit sites, slow as fuck, loads of crap you have to sort through before you find something worth watching.

There is only one way to beat Tubes, take the members back. If they lose the guys who will pay for Dating, Webcams and cheap memberships they go under.

Now all we have to do is work out how we do that. It's not easy but it can be done.

The problem with most of you is all you can do is sit and moan.

i have a friend who works in a food warehouse, where they ship out food to the high end places, not as many people are going to them anymore to eat, he is loseing hours over this. So yea, people are going to get the burgers now over the steak

i promote cam sites. as i am into porn my self. cams are the only thing that do it for me id rather tell a girl what i want to see her do then to watch a video of her doing something that i dont really care for. Cams are way more addicting then the other types of porn out there and if u have a really good girl, she will keep the guys coming back for more and more

Shit sites, slow as fuck, loads of crap you have to sort through, it sounds like you're describing the average paysite not tube which are pretty much the opposite to all those things. The biggest tube sites are damn fast, have streaming and extremely user friendly.

Basically this business has come down to get as much traffic as you can by giving everything away for free and throw as many as you can at the wall and see if one sticks This industry is just a big black hole thats eating itself to death!!!

maybe its your fault paul I run my sites with pride and treat the customer with the greatest respect. Its when given a choice of free with no consequences or paying. I dont care what you have free will always win. Fuck we have people on this board that make their living selling content, paysites and think its perfectly alright to watch a movie online instead of paying for it. There is no answer the industry will fuck itself, its that simple. No adapt or die bullshit, the industry itself is killing the valve of their product.
I think eventually the only place you will see porn will be pay per view on your tv and the few shops still around. People are getting more and more desperate and think giving it away is the answer. governments have started to crack down its going to get worse and worse.it will just take time, the internet is becoming a big sewer. We will have no one to blame but ourselves.
