Does anyone recognize this WP theme? Apparently SEO friendly

http://www.priyaraiblog.com/

This guy is the #1 result for Priya Rai in Google. Apparently I am not as good at SEO as I thought because I can't figure out why....

Does anyone recognize the theme?

Yeah, I can't imagine the theme could help that much. Markup counts, but not as much as the list spacedog presents.

Don't see why it wouldn't be like any other site. Domain, hand written content, on page seo and backlinks?

Here's what I've seen from my very first adult website launch; I hope this helps a bit.

If you have very unique words in your site name, and you have done some very basic things, like submit a sitemap and actually use your unique term a few times, google will give you a number one spot for that term.

My site incorporates an italian word in the name, and if you type "Sexy Schiava" into google my site comes up at the number one spot. But, if you use keywords like "amateur" "BDSM" "Bondage" "Submission" you will never see my site

I have a feeling that "Priya Rai" may be one such combination that is rather unique. If you try more "generic" keywords for what the site contains...you may or may not see it listed. That's where you can tell if they have "real" SEO going on.

That site is so obviously targetted against that term(name) and he has succeded on it. I don't understand what you mean by looking for other more general terms for it to be "real SEO"....

I concur. This site has succeeded in its goal. "Why" is what I was going after but apparently that dude thought they should have different goals lol.

I would refer you back to the example of my site. It's an amateur BDSM website (PR0 and essentially traffic 0 ). If you search on "amateur BDSM" or some other general keyword combination, you'll never see my site listed on google. If you search for "Sexy Schiava" my site is the number one slot on google. In essence, google gives you a good spot if your specific term is not generally in use and you have some related content.

I didn't look at the other site long enough to see what niche it was, or what keywords might be relevant to a search. But if you used general keywords, instead of that specific term he was talking about...I doubt the site would pop up at number one on google.

I think he means the term isn't popular thus it's easy to get high spots.

More info...

Taking my site again, if you know what a 'schiava' is, and you are looking for a 'sexy' one...and you type that into google, you'll find my site.

The Average Surfer looking for chicks being tied up, submitting to their doms, and such is NOT going to type in "sexy schiava." He is going to type in "bondage, sex, submission" etc. and so he won't see my site, and he'll wind up somewhere else.

So, getting the number one slot on google for a term that no one will ever use, is not going to help you a bit. If I get the number one slot for "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" on google...I'm probably not going to get much traffic from that.

I had never typed in "Priya Rai" before today into google...and unless it's a common Indian phrase...the site hasn't accomplished more than I have and I don't claim to have any serious SEO techniques on my site (I'm in the middle of a re-design).

It ranks where it is for one simple reason. Google sees it as the authoritative site for that search term. Its not his page titles, its not his content, its not his domain. Its also not his backlinks nor his "insert secret unknown ancient chinese seo secret here". Its more of a combination of all the above.

Its the whole package and how its displayed to the web. He has more "green flags" on his site then "red flags" and definitely more then the other pages in that serp. Changing his theme, would most likely do little to his rank at this point.

Now you definitely do want to use a "friendly" theme, but in all honesty its more often the webmasters who are seo friendly then their designs. And because its wordpress you can easily combine chunks of themes and actions from other themes. Just tweak your theme (whichever you chose) to do what you wish it to do.

If you need to find out what he specifically did with his wp install that differs from you, do a site:www.site.com search in google, see what gets spidered, whats noindexed and how and wear he pushes the link weight.

I own that site. Basically, it all comes down to relevance, and I guess longevity comes into play as well.

We've held that position for an awfully long time and, in fact, think it might have even been the first blog on her back when she was still doing strictly glamour style shots.

There are no secrets, no special themes, no special link trades, etc. We don't get into this ABC stuff or anything else. For links, we simply link with sites we think our surfers will enjoy, as well as some friends and some of our own sites.

Most of our sites rank highly in search engines.

Listings and rankings will fluctuate to some extent, but we usually get listed positionally favorable from update to update.

the theme has nothing to do with the position. just check the results in google, what other do you think have to be first? gallery on some big server? some org domain? its the domain name and some backlinks what made the nr 1 ... imho ...

just plain honesty thats how everyone gets their top spots, no tricks no linking just a few links here and there and google sees that and they love godly people and they allocate that spot for them

Just to add to this. "Priya Rai" is the 1st word in all of the blog post titles.

What you fail to see here is that he has built that blog around that term and that it is highly targetted, he is not looking to rank high for "amateur teens". Priya Rai is a pornstar name and ranking nr 1 in google for those are often good.

Hard to say how much traffic he get's but I'm pretty sure he see's more than 1000 google hits per day because of that term.

But those of you thinking this is a joke and that he has accomplished nothing yadayada can keep it up, more money in the serps for me and him.
