Anyone taking Vyanase for ADD?
Was wondering if anyone is taking Vyanase. My doctor wants me to try it but I wanted to see if anyone else took it or takes it and what they think.

Vyvanase
I don't take it, but I looked it up for you. It's based on the same ingredient as in Adderall (essentially an amphetamine) but it is time released. It relies on the liver to remove an amino acid that is bound to the amphetamine, thus triggering the drug. If you have taken Adderall XR (the extended release) this is essentially another way of doing the same thing. If you are a heavy drinker, I would look into the side effects more closely, since it is being processed through the liver. Other than that, I don't see any different issues with it than what you have with Adderall.
Hope that helps...

more info
Well, I do take Adderall, and for me it's very effective. This other drug appears to be made by the same company, and the patent on Adderall XR is ending soon. (which means, generics are coming and a big hit to their bottom line.) From what I've read, this new drug should be quite similar in effect.
As for the drinking, a lot of us A.D.H.D. types also tend to be substance abusers...so I just threw that in to be safe. Keeping your condition under control with the right meds does help to avoid abuse of other substances for most. I don't know what you've taken, but if it was Ritalin...anything is better than that. I can recommend Adderall (regular, or extended release) and this new one seems to be very similar. If you have a good doctor who is aware of your overall health, you should be fine with whatever they prescribe...but be sure to let them know of any side effects you experience, because often something as simple as a dosage change or taking the med with food can change them for the better. Bottom line is, don't let fear keep you from getting the treatment you need.

Comorbidity
If you're new doctor is familiar with 'comorbidity' you should do fine. It's a fancy word that means that ADD often 'comes with' other disorders; such as dyslexia, depression, OCD, PTSD, and other acronyms and scary words
![]() So, you are on to something...treating the ADD often improves the symptoms of whatever disorder is comorbid with it; however, sometimes you have to treat both. So, if your Doc understands that (and you do to) you'll start off treating the ADD and after time evaluate the symptoms of the secondary disorder and determine if further treatment is needed specifically for it, or if it has moderated enough to not be an issue. I wish you the best...and once you have a good doctor, don't let go of him/her ![]()

Funny on several levels
...yes! And no, we were talking about Attention Deficit Disorder...but a lot of AD&D geeks also have A.D.D. and enjoy Mountain Dew and Funions while playing.
Now, if I can just find my +3 Sword of Smiting, I'll be off to kill some trolls over in the other thread. ![]() (to the Dungeon Master aka the Mods; I expect extra xp for this post)

I take adderall and am thinking of swithcing to vyanese. It's made by the same company that makes adderall so it's very similar. The differences are; vyanese lasts longer, but it does not give you the same euphoric rush as adderall which makes it less prone to abuse. I'll most likely try it out next month and let you know. Since I began taking ADD meds 5 years ago I've grown my 3 businesses each by 15-200% every year and finished my bachelors degree and am working on a masters. School is my stress reliever, but a healthy one. If you've never taken add or adhd medication but have been diagnosed, you'll be amazed at the difference in your worklife on medication.

I'm just starting on Adderall, and my dosage is very low atm to see how I tolerate it. I have no problems with sleeping, if anything, I sleep better at night. If I took a handful of them, no sleep might happen.
