I never liked sites that look like that. the layout is too busy and confusing, your eye doesnt know where to go. I hate that revolution theme on wordpress.

I always liked simple blog layout like drudgereport or techcrunch.

that layout is way to busy, but with some minor tweaks could be reallyyy nice, but if it is free i guess you cant complain hehe

Very slick design however it is a little too busy I feel with so many things going on.

In fact, it reminds me of the BBC site which is pure quality so what do I know.

You can change the revolution style theme to display much more less then what most sites do. I currently have something similar running on one of my maintream blogs and it has really helped out.

I actually purchased a bunch of Joomla themes and mods.
It's really nice eye candy but the load times was so bad I had to ditch the whole joomla
use. Joomla is also complicated to update and workon compared to wordpress.

I have an 80's video site I am fucking with using the omni theme.

http://eyeswithoutaface.com/

Seems to do all I want, i have to get in and finish it now.

I'm dying to find a social WP plugin that allows memberships with profiles etc.
Anyone know of any?

I own 81 of Template Plaza's templates and they do an excellent job. I also bought some RocketTheme templates too.

Here is what I did with this template:

http://demo.templateplazza.net/college_plazza/ is on
http://www.tallassee.com

If you haven't looked at Joomla, you should. Wordpress is great if you just want to make some posts but if you want a fully enriched site - go with Joomla - there is just so much more you can do with it.

There are some nice joomla themes, but I find that a lot of them are just adaptations of existing wordpress themes.
