Attention designers - quick logo work needed, easy cash!

Hey all! We are in the middle of reviving the look of www.PinkStarCash.com and we need your help with some small aspect of the logo. We have a low res version of this star....

......and we need a super hi res version that we can use for printing on tshirts, etc. The tricky part here is that we want the large star to be as identical to this one as possible, in shape and colour and everything else. This is an easy job for those that can work the photoshop well - you just need to produce exact looking copy. We will pay $100 to whomever will achieve the best replica/best looking star. Get paid right away by paypal.

We are kind of in a rush, so this will will run till midnight EST tomorrow, the 25th. If needed, this may extended by another day. It will be posted here if it's extended.

Have fun kids!

Here is the sample. Actual image and PSD are 3000 x 3000 and 300 DPI.

I'll send you the PSD file and full size PNG if this is an acceptable copy. Best I could do on short notice.

if you need this for scalability and printing large like on t-shirts, signs, etc. you would be better off getting a vector version in Illustrator, not Photoshop

plus, some forethought into the method of printing on the shirts should be done, this design looks like it may be better rendered with spot colors as opposed to cmyk

great to see some entries coming in! thank you guys.

MDCQ - Love the star's colouring! Awesome replica job. What is not right is that the edges of the spikes are not "connecting" to one other, it should appear as one piece, not two stars one under another. I'm sure that is easy to fix with manual brush-in. Also the $ should be carved out- not just a black symbol. I also would prefer if the shape of the $ would be closer to the original.

NeoX - great job in making it look very realistic like a "medal" would be, which is the look we are aiming for. I am not too fond of the shape of the $ however - a little too "fat". However I like the colouring of the first star in the contest better than this one.

Great job so far and I see we will soon have a winner!

I never did any media printing like this before, so this will be my first experience. I didn't know there can be different ways of printing on tshirts and that the design can affect the outcome.

fair enough, always something new to learn for all of us

if I were you I would contact the t-shirt screening company, show them the logo, and ask them what would be the best route.... the photoshop methods that are being used in this thread so far are not the best way to go for this

any good designer would be able to knock off your design exactly and in illustrator which would give you the flexibility to scale perfectly to t-shirts or even billboards if you needed, and the design you have should probably look best adapted to a 3 color spot color rendering, that will look most vivid and beautiful on a t-shirt, whereas a cmyk 4 color print of it would look duller

I'm not entering the contest, but I did this in vector graphics just to play around, the nice thing with the raw vector files is that you could scale this up to the size of a banner the size of a football field and it would still be perfectly crisp.

just for fun:

I can see what you are saying. I'd love the scalability feature, I just don't know illustrator myself at all - I am only comfortable in photoshop and I thought photoshop is what we need. Guess we will have to live with the photoshop version for a bit until we get around to have it done in illustrator as you suggested.

Btw, you did a great job on the star too. If you know this stuff so well, why don't you participate?

PlatinumPimp you should have done a more 3desque star..

It can be in Photoshop format and still be vector.

hmm, I haven't really looked into vector graphics in newer versions of photoshop, I'm kind of old school and the pro's always use Illustrator when creating serious line graphics anyways, but all the programs have seemed to meld and overlap in features over the years... I was surprised to see that Freehand was an Adobe product now

True scalability is found in vector images like d-null mentioned. You now have a higher resolution image that should work for shirts or anything up to 12"x12".

If you want to make that graphic say cover half a bus or car, or big show banners for instance. You would require a vector version created in illustrator which can scale while still remaining crisp.

I guess we learned something thanks to a few people here that really know stuff and will probably have to have the star redone once again when we need it for larger things than T-shirts. For now it does what we need at the moment and we are kind of in rush too. Now if we can only get a hold of the winner!

Anyone know that guy or know where we can find him??

I found a site that gives some good explanations of the differences between spot color and process color printing for t-shirts, it is pretty basic but a good read on the differences and typical requirements for the designers:

Isn't this thread a moot point. Regarding the image though, the negative space is obstructed inside the $ cutout due to the false perspective.

I like your star a lot too, but a little too thick for my taste. We wanted a 3D star but thinner, much like what a chocolate dollar is

LOL if you're that good, why didn't you want to participate in the "contest"? Reward too low or you're too cool to mess with little stuff like that? But it's cool to play with it "for fun? Or is it just making a point?

I was actually being cute and paying him a compliment. Sorry if this comes off as arrogant.

Actually, your message was rude towards him and you were showing some smilies which are supposed to be rude, you can try to twist the story another way, but everyone who looks at the details will know. Have a nice night and cheers.

PP.

I never thought smiling is rude, but i guess you are right, there are always ways to twist things.

Good night to you too and thanks for the design - it was nice to see a different approach however we are too far committed on the one we already chose and had to stick with it.
