2257 Custodian Services - anyone thought of this?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has 8-10 years worth of records stored in his system.
Has anyone thought of simply HOUSING producers' computers on a local basis around the country (e.g. one location in LA/Porn Valley, one location in OC/San Diego, one location in South Florida, one location in NYC, etc. etc.) where producers could come and "visit" their record systems and update them, but not keep them in house?

Our company, 2257Safe, offers the ability to upload and manage your records via any web browser anywhere in the world. Your records are stored on PCI-DSS compliant servers, the gold standard for credit card and bank security with each account insured for $2 million in E&O insurance. Nobody else has the level of amenities that we are going to be offering. Most people that are thinking of getting into this business are under the impression that 3rd party record keeping is as easy as taking boxes of paperwork and shoving them into a closet somewhere to collect dust. We have gone the extra mile to protect our client's records with the highest level of security possible AND on top of that providing insurance to back it up. None of that comes cheap and that is why nobody else is out there doing it. We are currently ramping up after 6 months of heavy development to go live in about 10 days. If you have any questions please feel free to hit me up.

Best regards,
Dan Underhill

Yes, one question.
Does anyone in your company read the question before cut-and-pasting the same answer in every thread? You could probably hire an outsourcing company to do that.

I think you are severely underestimating the competition.

I like the idea of having your records within a certain area. Give you more confidence being able to physically inspect a facility. You should be able to get the space cheap due to all the commercial space becoming avail.

That's what I think too - I'm wondering why no one has tried doing this, at least in SoCal.

Thanks...I think the issue for a lot of people like me is that we've literally spent weeks/months putting all of our records into a locally-based system, and there's no way we can take the time to do that all over again from scratch, for someone's online-based system.

I know u will be very impressed with what we have built.

Just changed the DNS servers last night to the new PCI servers... Dan is finished with the coding and he is finishing up the skin to the site. We are looking to officially launch in the next couple of days once billing is approved and set up.

Dan was able to get the video and picture compression to more than 90% and with our testing we were able to compress a 500 meg video to less than 50 megs in less than 15 seconds. Pretty quick. That is what has taken so long. The video compression was tricky.

Michael,

I'm going to need to sign up for a 2257 service within the next few days so I can get my new site going.

I was considering this service as well but notice I can't upload flash videos - https://www.2257services.net/dojfaq.php

Will your service allow the videos in flash format?

How will the pricing structure be set up?

If I go with your service, do you recommend that I put your 2257 info at the beginning of the videos and if so I'd like to know what to put so I can start adding that.

Thanks,

Tim

All video formats will be supported. Pricing structure will be based on the amount of content you have... We will be charging based upon gigs AFTER compression. Compression test have shown about 90% compression rate.

So if you have a 100 Gig site, it will be 10 gigs after compression. Our price for that amount of storage will be $29.99 per month.

And I would recommend a 2257 Notice at the beginning of every video.

when it all came around, I tried to suggest that it would be a smart move for a single 3rd party non profit org to become the defacto records keeper for the industry.

A perfect system would allow producers to send in their records and affiliates could link to a custom page which listed the various programs/sites/producers 2257 info. Something like this would make thing easier for both our industry and the feds.

Agreed, though with how the industry feels about the FSC, I dont see people donating money to make it happen.

It's a shame that my thread keeps getting bumped but no one has addressed my issue directly, I would think I'm not the only one interested in something like the situation that I originally suggested.
