Any non-American feast on peanut butter regularly?

I loves my peanut butter The old fashioned kind made with just peanuts, of course! The kind you have to take out of the jar to give it that initial good stirring.

I like nutella but can only do it in small doses because it is sooo sweet, I usually mix it with a little PB to even it out. I made a nutella sauce once with butternut squash ravioli that was pretty good.

Marmite I can't do, gives me shivers. I think you have to be raised on the stuff to dig it.

Most British people think I am crazy for liking peanut butter. Plus, they are all afraid their kids are going to explode if they have nuts. Personally, I just think it is because good peanut butter is so hard to get over here.

The lady at a non-profit I used to volunteer for sent peanut butter cups to Sweden for someone, I don't think they have those over there.

I love peanut butter, Nutella is good too.

Here's a chocolate peanut butter I have:

I also want to try their white chocolate variety:

Then you need to tell them a peanut is not actually a nut is a legume. It's closer to a pea than a nut.

http://inventors.about.com/library/i...anutbutter.htm

Quote:
Peanut butter was invented and reinvented many times during history. Peanuts were known as early as 950 B.C. and originated in South America. The ancient Incas used peanuts and were known to have made it into a paste-like substance. As a crop peanuts emigrated from South America to Africa by early explorers and then traveled by trade into Spain who then traded the product to the American colonies. The first commercial peanut crop was grown in Virginia in the early to mid 1840's and in North Carolina beginning around 1818.

According to the Corn Products Company, Dr. Ambrose Straub of St. Louis patented a peanut butter-making machine in 1903 and some unknown doctor invented peanut butter in 1890.
and then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanut_butter

Quote:

Evidence of modern peanut butter comes from US patent #306727 issued to Marcellus Gilmore Edson of Montreal, Quebec, in 1884, for a process of milling roasted peanuts between heated surfaces until the peanuts reached "a fluid or semi-fluid state." As the product cooled, it set into what Edson described as "a consistency like that of butter, lard, or ointment."

J.H. Kellogg, of cereal fame, secured US patent #580787 in 1897 for his "Process of Preparing Nutmeal," which produced a "pasty adhesive substance" that Kellogg called "nut-butter."

Had it and it is okay but still not as good as American peanut butter. Even the stuff British brands call American style just isn't the same. For starters, it is never creamy enough. Even chunky peanut butter should be creamy.

I grew up a smooth Jiff gal...a freshly opened jar of that is one of the best smells ever.
