I Just Got New Taylormade R9 Driver, and.....

It's Fucking Excellent!

I've only had a few hits with it in the yard (and lost a few balls doing so) but, I love it.

And it's fucking started raining!

Can't wait to get on the course and go try it out.

Has anyone else got or used one yet? or the new Nike dymo str8 fit?

It looks like an amazing club, I had an R7 for a couple of years and could never quite hit it right. But i think that had more to do with the player than with the club ;-)

Yeah, they have a number of award winning courses not too far from where I live. $50 to play, but some nice courses. There are a few others I have not been to yet. Seems like every year a few news one's open, or they revamp some old one.

Didn't you switch the weights round?

The first taylormade I got was the rescue dual. because I had a lot of trouble hooking it right. and I just switched the weights round to correct it.

I got the medicus driver about 4 weeks ago aswell and that has helped a lot.

Nice!

I'll have to have a look into that. I'm only about an hour or 2 from P.E.I. aswell so i'm planning on doing some golfing over there in the summer. The Rodd Mill River that is on this series of Big Break looks really good. and I ain't played any golf over there yet so that will be good.

I remember the first set of golf clubs I ever played with, and the woods were acually made from wood. the heads on the drivers were tiny compared to what they are now aswell!

There is this family out in Augusta that own a number of nice one's.
http://www.yarrowgolf.com/page/156-4384.htm

But there are some others just built, or renovated, that are nice as well in the area. Between lakes, and golf courses, there are plenty of both around here.

It ain't that bad, what's a diablo at the moment? $299?

I got my R9 for about $450US only a bit more expensive and well worth the money I reckon.

The Diablo is a nice driver

I've got a 5 year old bertha 454 which I love and still use.
an FT-5 which I don't like very much because no matter where I hit it, the thing hooks or spins of in a different direction nearly everytime
The R9,

and the first driver I bought myself which is some old Ben Sayers thing I got in a set from a shop like walmart

I tried the r9 tp version at the club a few weeks ago and it is a great driver which goes long and straight without even trying to crush the ball. The 3 wood is also an excellent choice.

The driver I settled on finally was a custom one, which is an smt 455 deep bore head with an accuflex assasin 2 shaft, specifically designed for my height, build and swing speed. Its a great club and has stood me in good stead for a few years now.

Nice

The only thing with the r9 I found wierd, was to put it into the more lofted position makes the grip totally the wrong way round but i'll probably get used to it if I want to start using it that way.

Yeah, it was your limp wrist, you cockdocking pansy.

I love my R7 draw. I have never hit a driver as well as I can hit this one. And Devin seems to be able to crush the ball with my R7.

Taylormade clubs seem (to me) to be the easiest to hit I reckon.

I like my old bertha but this is far better!

And as for the FT-5, well thats just terrible.

Drivers have developed a lot in the past 5 years, I think that good 5 year old irons work fine (although of course there's advances there too). Also hybrids kick ass.

I would reckon its best to. most of the newer clubs do get you more yardage.

I still need to get new irons, mine are about 4 or 5 years old now.

Looks lovely.

While Michigan has it's share of bullshit disadvantages. We do have plenty of golf courses and lakes. Also cheap labor when it comes to models (compared to FL, NY, LA).

Most of it looks really nice from what i've seen (especially the golf courses)

As for disadvantages that could be said for everywhere.

And the cheap labor? why do you think i'm in Canada at the moment
Model fees in the UK were fucking stupid.

and btw, i made a 3 put after and noted my usual bogie score.

Thats a good driver

But oops on the bogie

I need to get better at playing par 5s. I can quite easily par and sometimes birdie par 3s.
if i'm playing reasonable I can par and bogie par 4's.
But par 5's I usually seem to bogie, double bogie or even worse

I tee off with a small taylor made tour spoon. It's got a very small head and clubface, which I like. I never got used to swinging one of those bighead drivers slowly around, seems so weird. I swing with a lot of torque and clubhead speed, and find that the smaller head just feels better to me.

I grew up playing with blade clubs though from the 60's, where if you missed the sweet spot, you were screwed (and so were your hands from the vibrations) but if you DID hit the sweet spot, pure butter. Nowadays my irons have small heads too. I have the Nike Pro Combo ones that are cavity back on the long irons, and blades for the short irons. Anyways here's the spoon:

I like my old bertha but this is far better!

And as for the FT-5, well thats just terrible.
Yeah, I couldn't hit with the Callaway either. I tried the Nike SQ Sumo2 as well, but I seemed to just keep dragging the back of that long duckbill along the ground after i hit the ball. I don't know what it is about that one but it sure didn't like my swinging style.

These are pretty much like what I first played with:

The FT-5 is horrible. I hit one really good shot with it In total. the rest have hooked one way or another. It's the strangest club i've ever had.

I've never hit one of the square headed drivers. but I guess you could easily do what your saying there. probably just drags on the floor if you don't tee it up high enough. the FT-iq looks pretty good but If it's anything like the FT-5 i don't wanna buy one.
