If the pet is yours you would know it's actions and usually will know something is not right. I noticed one of the cats at my job acting weird and ran him to the vet a couple hours later since I could not leave work when I 1st noticed it was not looking good. The vet said if I did not bring him in it would have died in about 8 hours. The male cat had his urinary track blocked, the vet was able to push the urine through...in which unblocked the problem. If he was unable to free the blockage it would have costed a lot of money if it needed surgery. If they can't go to the bathroom for 24hours they will burst and die. Now the cats can only eat wet food. (although I am not at work on the weekends and need to give them dry food to get them through the weekend.) It costed $200 bucks that my boss rembursed me for. Make a long story short I had big plans that were cancelled.

You did a good thing.

Yeah better safe than sorry. If it was just diarrhea I would of tried to treat it at home. My dogs have had it before but with all the throwing up and she couldnt even keep water down. I decided she had to go to the vet. Now I feel so bad she was sitting in the kitchen in the dark waiting to eat. I can give her a little of this bland food they gave me for her.

Well at least if she's acting like she wants to eat, she might be feeling better.

With all the critters I've had over the years and the fact that they all seem to live to be a ripe old age... I can't even count the number of trips to the emergency vet. I'm always fearful that the one time I decide to wait it out will be the time that I shouldn't have.
