Thanks, everyone....we are just as happy about our new baby as Shap is about his!!! ;)

For those that do not know what an RPP is, it stands for Remote Power Panel and in our DC it sits at the end of each row and it handles all of the power for that row.....

Here is what a whole bunch of RPP's looks like.....

There's a running joke here...whenever someone mentions how many megawatts of power we have at the new center, someone goes (in their best Christopher Lloyd voice from "Back to the Future") - "one point twenty-one jiggawatts!!!!"

Alright, so that's who's in the building MMR. Now what providers has your company established bgp sessions with?

Correct. As I said in my post, if a colo customer wants to purchase directly from one of the listed providers they can...or they can choose the NationalNet blended bandwidth which is the same bandwidth that we use for our Managed Hosting customers. That bandwidth literally changes all the time based on what we find is the best carriers for our network. We employ a staff of high level network engineers who are constantly interrogating our network to look for places that we can add or remove carriers.

But, so that you dont think I am avoiding your question, as of right this minute we have established BGP sessions with 36 carriers. Without trying to list them all, they range from the big guys like Level3, Telia, Google and Limelight to small providers that most people have never heard of. For example, we peer with one group that sells connectivity to colleges from coast to coast so that we are one-hop away from all of these college kids which make up a large part of our customers customers. This is the type of proprietary stuff that goes above and beyond servers and switches that we do for our customers every day.

Hope this answers your question!!!

This room will become the new NOC (Network Operations Center) but when this was taken it was "Start Up Command Central" where all of the vendors were starting up their equipment, testing, and retesting. After they were done, these guys spent the next 2 weeks doing "commissioning". For those that do not know, commissioning a data center basically means testing every single critical component in every conceivable position and make sure that the data center stays live and operational during virtually any eventuality.

During commissioning....which you learned about above.....we use these little buggers called Load Banks. Basically it is nothing more than a giant hair dryer. It pulls power and produces heat to imitate what it will be like when the row is full of servers. We had these bad boys set up in the hot aisles for two straight weeks while we ran test after test after test.

And below you can see how we use the "hot aisle cold aisle" system as we set the laod banks up in every other row.
