Best writers for a TV Series?

By far "Two and a Half Men"
Who agrees?

The show is so funny.

I agree actually, it's not my favorite show. However I was sitting there listening to the constant back to back jokes. How they can write so many funny jokes into one short scene was amazing.

There was quite a bit of humor in it, but I'd have to go with the following top 3 personal favorites:

Action! - Sadistic joy of the Hollywood industry, from the inside.
NewsRadio - Slapstick and jokes for thinking people.
Black Books (UK) - Almost as cruel as Action! was, but more of a playful setting with a Seinfeld-like quality to it.

I love many more, but the writing teams for those three were just brilliant.

Although I have only seen half of an episode, they are the ones with all the Awards.

best comedy writers or drama writers? Excellent writing I've enjoyed in the past:

Homicide: Life on the Street
original iteration of Law & Order
Mad Men

I'd have to agree. Aren't they the same guys who write Big Bang Theory? That is easily one of the funniest and most creative shows I've seen in a while. Sheldon alone makes it worth watching.

hustle for the twist and turns in the story
west wing for the covering of intelligent issues in an entertaining way

Two and a Half Men is well-written...but every era/generation has its well-written series.

I always though WKRP in Cincinnatti had some great comedy writers. Who can forget Carlson's line - "If God is my witness...I thought turkeys could fly!"

The writers for MASH were great, too.

Weeds is the one show I have to watch every single week.

Everything that happens in Nancy Botwin's life is so outrageous but still completely believable. There are women out there like her.

I also love The Office and 30 Rock.
