What's the best SOLID STATE Laptop to get these days?

My coder bought a Dell XPS, with upgraded processor, 8Gb ram, solid state, 64bit etc, cost him around $4K and he's had no end of problems with it.

What else is out there that's better? I'm looking to pick something up in the next month or so.

Thanks BD. He could have just had a lemon. They replaced the hard drive, then the mobo, and in the end gave him a new machine, which has been faultless.

For some reason I've never liked Toshiba, heavy, ugly, they do the business though, or used to.

We replaced our Toshiba Satellites about a year ago (end of Sept 08) with these Dells. I liked the Toshiba in the beginning but it did get very hot towards the end of my time with it. I remember the drives used to be pretty loud at times as well. Yes, it was heavy.

I have no complaints about this except I had them partition the drives at the factory and in retrospect, I am not sure I would do it again.
