This is a conspiracy.

The insurance industry lobbied state governments to pass these laws so that they could raise the rates of everyone cited for cell phone use.

The reality is that there is some added risk, but the claims that around 25% of all accidents are caused by cell phone use have got to be BS. There is some added risk, but there is no difference between holding a phone to your ear, using a hands free device and talking to a passenger.

If you spend 5% of your driving time talking on the phone, then there is a 5% chance that an accident and talking on the phone will coincide. It's really as simple as that, but again, the insurance industry wants to see this everyday behavior outlawed so that you can be ticketed and thus they can raise your rates.

Almost getting killed by some soccer mom or business dude texting on their phone is a daily occurrence in DFW.

i guess you don't drive much... I spend maybe 30-40 mins on the road daily and every day there's at least 2-3 asshats on their cells/teens texting that I have to avoid/dodge/go around/honk at.

I would talk on a phone or text when car is standing still on a red light.

Too dangerous in a moving vehicle.

I still think these laws are mostly bullshit. You should get fined AFTER you crash or cause someone to crash. Youve really done nothing wrong until you crash.

I always put the phone down when the car is moving. You have to be retarded to text while you are driving.

Did you ever look at the other drivers on the road and notice how many of them are actually talking on the phone while they are driving? About 50% is pretty scary to be honest. Especially since most of them can't drive worth a shit in the first place.

Most people can't drive well even if its the only thing they are doing. Add a phone or anything else in and the turn into complete fucking idiots.

Not really. The random 25% number they've pulled out of their ass, well who knows. I know of 3 separate major car wrecks in 09 alone who personal acquaintances were involved in, all directly the result of someone dinking around on their cellphone. One in which a guy died.

In 09, cellphone related auto accidents > alcohol related accidents within my monkey sphere.

Talking on cells wasn't such a big deal, it's the fucking people who text while driving that are the worst. Then you got guys like my little brother who fly down the highway with their iphone in one hand watching youtube, or whatever else...

IT IS FUCKIGN DANGEROUS.

If you can't see that, you're clueless...
