Will any adult hosts ever use Wind Energy the way some mainstream hosts are?

Curious.

I'm sure it will become a larger component in the overall scheme of power generation, but most large DC's are currently in urban areas and don't have the space to really harness this type of power directly at the DC level. This should change some in the next decade as more efficient low profile wind turbines are developed for rooftops that meet city building codes. With the cost of power becoming an ever increasing part of DC/Hosting costs I can see more new DC's looking for areas where they can take advantage of wind and hydro power as you are now seeing along the Columbia River, from Canada all the way down to Oregon.

There isn't enough sustainable energy to run everything on windenergy.
It is used as marketing tool to customers.
You don't set up your windmill park, you simply buy 'green' energy.
Everyone can do that. But the end price will be higher, some will do that if the customers are asking for it.

On our network they are starting to measure the amount of electricity per server and the webmasters pay for the ammount of electricity they use, with a flat fee for the rackspace. We are comparing the variuos server set ups to see with machine eats electricity and which one use less energy.

Hostgator for example makes a big deal about them only using electricity from wind for their server park:
