Blackberry driving me crazy!

I've been sitting here for a few hours now, trying to figure out how to do the fancy thing that it seems everyone else is doing.

MOST PEOPLE say they can't get the BB to sync with Thunderbird and / or Lightning.

I have wi-fi at home, which is where my synching is going to happen, so I figured hey, I'll try Google Sync. But that doesn't work over wi-fi, only through the data plan I don't have.

I am quite open to any helpful suggestions, tips, tricks, and the like. I figured GFY folks would be somewhat more Blackberry savvy than myself.

your supose to sync using bluetooth or a usb cable to your computer or your suppose to use a blackberry enterprise server.

your trying to hack your way around the way blackberry's are suppose to work.

there is no point of having a blackberry without a data plan either.

Oh. I do use a usb cable to the computer, but I don't use Outlook. I use Thunderbird.

I was always told that wifi Blackberries were the ones to have because you could just hop on hotspots instead of using up your data plan to do web browsing and such. I have email on my plan, but no data. It's still ridiculously priced for data in Canada. (http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.por...at egory=data) It's $25 more a month just to get 500mb of data, and pretty much the only time I would use it is for synching.

double argh.

Spend the extra money and add the data plan. There is no point to owning a Blackberry without it.

Outlook does not come with Windows; it comes with MS Office.

Outlook Express used to come with Windows; Outlook Express is no more.

1. Select an External Email Address. Select an email address that will be used externally, i.e. the email address you provide to others on your business card or otherwise. For this example, we will use [email protected].

2. Configure Domain-Level Email Forwarding. Configure your domain-level email forwarding so that all incoming email addressed to [email protected] is forwarded to both a dedicated Blackberry address ([email protected]) and a dedicated Thunderbird address ([email protected]).

3. Configure Blackberry. Configure the dedicated Blackberry address so that the “Reply to:” address is [email protected] and the “Auto BCC:” address is [email protected].

4. Configure Thunderbird. Configure Thunderbird to retrieve email from [email protected]; this will include incoming email sent to [email protected] as well as BCC email from the Blackberry. Configure Thunderbird so that the “Reply to:” address is [email protected] and the “Auto BCC:” address is [email protected]. Create a Thunderbird rule that is applied to all incoming email sent from [email protected] (which is BCC email from the Blackberry) that marks messages as “Read” and files them in the “Sent Items” folder.

Now we're getting somewhere! Thank you!

Now if only I could synch up my address book....

As for people who say "just get the data plan"... this is the only thing I would use the data plan for! Everything else I can hop onto local wi-fi networks and get done for free. So no, I'm not paying $25 +12% tax extra a month just to synch up my address book and email. Especially with the amount of spam I get I'll be over my data limit in no time!

in blackberry desktop manager you can select which program you want to sync the device to. i don't use wifi to sync to my mac. I use it the USB cable. not sure what you would sync through wifi.

Thank you for uselessly posting this information.

If you had read the fact that she doesn't have the data plan (therefore no dedicated Blackberry address)...you wouldn't have wasted your time.
