i've enjoyed watching all the biker build shows, i find them inspirational with my own bike customizing efforts and have wondered the same thing.

i think it's because they try to hard and the goal is a gimmicky end product. i also don't find paul jr. to be all that creative- putting spinning space shuttles thingies on the wheels is really not much of a creative endeavor. he's also not a biker/motorcyclist. russell at exile, on the other hand, is a rider, has a vision of his perfect bike and builds it.

Russell rocks. The only color paint allowed in the shop is black. Did you ever see that show he hosted where someone had a chance to build a bike in a week (or was it a month), and if they did it, they could keep it. I used to love the shit he would give them when they said they wanted to paint the bike red or yellow

Precisely. I remember when Jesse James had his bike show and he was building a bike to ride to Sturgis. He did not even get out of CA before parts started flying off. Then he had more major shit happen that the only reason he even made it to Sturgis is because he has a chase machine shop following him.

I got a chance to party with Mikey & Campos in 2003 or 2004 during Spring Break.
I made sure they had front stage row seats :-)

Mikey was pretty cool and down to earth.

Just so you know... Guys give the bird with the middle finger up and all knuckles down. Chicks give the girl with the knuckles of the other fingers up like Shap.
