Conversion rate from trial to rebill?

I'm wondering what is the "common" conversion rate from trial to rebill these days?
Remember in the old days it used to be over 50%, but it must be a lot lower these days?

I know a lot of sites now only offer trial members limited access, and the member have
to upgrade to a monthly membership to get full access.

Anybody have some numbers they can share on that setup?

Anything between 0-100% is normal. Now ask a question that isn't so general. Too many factors involved...

Very good question.

What are "ok" stats for example for $1 1day trials? And compared to for example a $5 1 day trial, are conversions better or worse?

We are currenly just going through a trial/and/evaluate process ourselfs. So i cant give you any stats yet. But maybe someone else is nice enough to share some light on it.

It all depends on the moon phase. Waxing and waning are always my two best phases.

There is always a lot of factors, but I can narrow it down a bit more:

Cheap and short trials - $1-3 - Processing with epoch or ccbill.
And sites not using limited trials.

Most definatly 0-100% hehe...

@ the thread. Yes, I think most people now just like to enjoy that wank & then come back a week or so later for another trial.

I suppose I could lose the trial & see the same people come in for a month at a time. The problem is that I would lose the people that prefer to test the water with their pinkie before jumping in.

You haven't thought about limited trial and "forcing" the member to convert to a monthly membership to get access to all the videos they want to watch etc?

You could lose the people who just want a wank tonight and not for the rest of the month.

This is 2010 not 2000 and the guys buying are astute enough to know how the system works. They are no longer willing to pay $30 for a once a week or month experience unless your site has something very very special.

You need to have limited trials, or else you will be abused. Cheap trials are ok, expensive trials do not convert well. Something like 40% is good. And there are not many factors in my experience if your subscription options are always paid. If i do not have affiliates i'll go for 'no trials' at all, you will earn more in the end, but if you run an affiliate program you need trials to pump your conversions.

You know I'm not convinced that limited trials in 2010 are as effective as they were in 2006... I have had members complain, and I feel that it just reminds them that they are on a trial membership and should cancel it soon. I'm thinking of pulling my limited setup and seeing if my trial to full improves.

My experience with trials is not limiting the content. I have found that my sales go in the shitter overall unless I default the trial when paying. Then what I have found is maybe a 50% increase in sales and like 90% of those mother fuckers cancel right away.

So, conclusion, trial without some sort of upsell/limit to content = massive loss in revenue
