Well, it's more stable than Windows, it's free, doesn't fuck your system with as much spyware/virus bullshit.

Anyway, if you do decide to try Ubuntu, don't try KUbuntu (KDE version) - I've got it installed and I've come to regret it. It's nothing major, just all these small annoyances that *just* keep me from reinstalling the whole machine.
