Mexican President Calderone in Washington to whine about immigration law

In Mexico, the political class from right to left has closed ranks to deplore the Arizona measure, which has dominated front pages and TV news here. Elected officials from the three major parties are exhorting Calderón to challenge it in Washington, where on Wednesday he will be greeted with pomp and ceremony at the White House and feted with high-end Mexican fusion food at a state dinner, and will address a joint session of Congress.

I have some respect for both sides of the immigration argument, but ultimately the illegals and their young American born children have got to go back home to Mexico.

We just can't afford to continue providing for impoverished Mexicans who fled their country.

The Mexican government is a total failure. Amazing that they can be located just south of the richest nation in history, yet parts of Mexico have 3rd world conditions. In some places children actually visit garbage dumps looking for food.

The Mexican and Chinese workforce is similar. Mexico really dropped the ball there. All of those Chinese factories could have been in Mexico instead.

As much as I miss Los Angeles, I don't miss the illegals.

The day we went to pick up our uhaul trailer to move, I swear there was a pack of them out front of the uhaul place. While we were standing outside waiting, this drunk mexican guy (probably an illegal) looked right at us and proceeded to fling a paper plate of refried beans straight into the air, and the shit flung everywhere and almost got all over me! And I'm supposed to give a shit about this guy's human rights?? LO-F-L. I will never forget that moment. My man and I used extra self control to just not say anything, because the uhaul manager was mexican and obviously let them hang out there.

It is a real problem, and the liberals whining and defending them probably live in nice neighborhoods where there aren't illegal mexicans leaving their lunch trash outside their homes.

And damn are the politicians having a great time wasting money, time, and resources on this shit. Fucking LA.

Sure there is no way to know for sure how many illegals are moving to Cali or anywhere. Hell, there is no fool proof way of knowing how many illegals are even in any state at any give time. So all of it is just an estimation.

I also realize that many other states are moving to to pass similar laws and I can't blame any of the state surrounding AZ for doing that. Logic would tell you that illegals are leaving AZ for states that are going to be more friendly to them so those states surrounding AZ are now going to act and try to pass their own laws to help protect themselves. I don't blame them. I actually like the law other than the part of it that forces legal immigrants to carry their papers on them 24/7.

That doesn't change my opinion on what the city of LA has done. They are going to get more illegals in that city because of the AZ law. Anyone can assume that. It will happen because illegals will now not go to AZ, but instead Cali and some of those in AZ are now moving to Cali so the city of LA has decided that if AZ is going to shift the burden of dealing with a lot of these illegals to them, the are not going to reward them by giving spending money with AZ based businesses. I'm sure some of it has to do with them just not like the law and thinking it is immoral. But I think a lot of it has to do with them just being pissed that the illegal problem is being shifted to them and they are too spineless to enact a similar law so they are going to take a hit in the budget for it.

On top of that to boycott the BUSINESSES in AZ??? WTF did the business owners there do? So does that mean that everyone in LA should boycott CCBILL NOW?

I read the other day that they estimate as many as 40,000 illegals have already moved from AZ into Cali just since the passage of the law. Add into that the fact that many illegals that would have gone to AZ are now going to skip that state and go right to Cali has Cali not very happy.

So they decide if AZ is going to kick them and pass a law that sends all the illegals scrambling to Cali then Cali is going to kick back and pass a law stopping some business from profiting in Cali.

It is just a thought, but I think it has a ring of truth to it and I feel it might be more realistic that just some of the leaders of Cali morally opposing the law. It is basically like the city of LA saying to AZ, "If you are going to send your burdens and your troubles to us, don't expect to then sell us your wares and profit off of us."

that makes sense but since it makes sense that probably isn't want they are thinking, they are just playing politics.

but if what you said is the case then Cali should adopt the same laws. Then they all would go to Texas, then if Texas and N. Mexico adapted it maybe some of them would..... drum roll........... enter legally since it would be easier to do it legally then it would be to get caught and sent back faster.

It's all about politics, the liberals defending them are just doing so because they know it will get them votes. If they couldn't potentially get votes from all of these illegals becoming legal then they wouldn't give a shit about them.

I agree completely. I would like to see every state have a similar law. As I have said in the past I am a little worried that the law requires legal immigrants to carry their papers on them 24/7, but I think we will have to wait and see if something like that is abused.

But, yes, I think every state should get tough on illegals and I also think that they should build a fence along the border with Mexico and have it patrolled by military people.

As it is right now if someone gets deported there is a decent change they are back in the country before the officer that caught them is even off his or her shift.

I don't see what is wrong with them carrying their "papers" on them. Really what is the big deal. We are all suppose to carry our government issued IDS / Drivers licenses at all times. So they have to carry an extra piece of paper. Big fucking deal. I am not crying because I have to carry my license on me legally. If I lived in an area where I need additional documents because I fit the profile STATISTICS could back up for a demographic that was causing harm to me and the rest of the area, I would carry t he additional documents required. I doubt we are talking about docs that they would need to a brief case to carry it around. It's prolly 1 page, fold it up, put it behind your license / id. End of story, oh and please be fucking happy to be here and stop bitching about having to carry an extra piece of paper. thanks. enjoy your stay.

In theory it is something that is easy to comply with and not a huge inconvenience in your life. And, if I go on vacation to a foreign country I always make sure that I have my passport on me at all times so you would think legal immigrants here would see that as a similar situation.

Here is where I kind of have an issue with it.

For starters you aren't required by law to have ID on you unless you are doing something that requires it. If I go for a walk down the street, I don't have to take ID with me. It might be a good idea in case something happens to me and I get hit by a car or something, they can identify me, but it isn't illegal for me to go for a walk without my ID. This law could make that so if I were a legal immigrant. Say for example the police get a call that someone just stole a cell phone out of car. They give a description and there is a cop right in the general area. He drives around and sees me walking down the street and I happen to kind of look like I might fit the description of the suspect. So he stops me. If I have forgotten my papers at home I am now guilty of committing a crime. Realistically, I will end up showing them my papers and charges will either be dropped or never filed, but it could be a major pain in my ass and there could be cops/DA's/Judges that decide to make a point and up fining this person or fucking them over so they serve as an example. It really bothers me to think something like that could happen to someone just because they didn't happen to have their papers on them.

Moreover it is the general implication of what this means. Things like this can be a slippery slope. It starts with legal immigrants then pretty soon everyone has to have some kind of special ID showing that they are legal. That is a big step, that is how things sometimes end up going. I can see a situation where, in an effort to be politically correct, they make it mandatory for every cop to ask anyone they pull over for their papers just to make sure that they are legal. This way they aren't profiling, they are just checking everyone on the road. I would like to think I live in a country where I could go to the store and not risk getting pulled over by the police and harassed about my legal status because I might have a broken tail light (Well, actually I wouldn't worry about that because I live in a small town and know all the police on a first name basis, but most people don't have that situation and if I leave town and go somewhere else it could happen.)

Maybe this is a big jump, but things like this happen.

When I saw born in East LA I was for illegal immigration reform.

When I saw thousands marching down the main streets of LA with Mexican flags and not one immigration agent did a fucking thing about it, I did a 180.

Those fucking feds are getting paid by my taxes.

It was that simple

I blame the government more than them for letting it get to this point. But they have some big fucking Mexican balls on them.

So then is the City of Los Angeles promising to not accept Arizona tax dollars when it, and the state of California, hit up the Federal Government for a bailout for their bankrupt city and state?

Just wondering...
