From a program owners point of view, (client view), what do you consider to be the most important elements of the client area of a design house back end? (i.e. organization, activity streams, private discussion board, time tracking, calendaring, security, etc....)

Will you be publishing promo materials for Twisty's Hard?
Right now one can arrange for the link generator to come up with a referral link, but I don't see any promo material.

Also, for mobile, do you provide a redirect script?

For me progress and displaying revisions, changes as they go, and work as it goes. I like to see the project, see the changes, and see the conversations all in one space.

We are in about 6 to 8 areas now, i would recommend going after something you enjoy, for instance i am heavily involved in architecture blogs etc personally, because i love architecture.

For twistyshard I wont be opening it up to all affiliates, so no promo materials for the general population.

For twistysmobile.com we auto redirect twistys traffic to the mobile tour, to best convert your traffic be it mobile or regular. For direct promotion hit up Minnie and we can see about how you want to promote it.

Yes the best bet is to do it slowly, go out with friends if you have them and do public activities, then as you become more comfortable doing things with them, try and do some things on your own, gain confidence in your surroundings then go to say a coffee shop or a store and start chatting up the person ringing in your sale, they have to talk to you so its an easy starting point. Then go to a coffee shop bring a paper a computer or whatever stay there a few hours and try randomly talking to strangers. It will be a long process but should help.

If i was in VOD i would be hunting for the same deals the brazzers guys made on ireel and pushplay.com, and then the other competition like epixhd.com etc. see how they are doing mainstream then try and incorporate those deals within your VOD selection by becomming the old dvd store with a backroom of porn.

Secondarily I would look at doing full one click integration with any and all paysites.

Also I would want to be able to handle one click VOD transactions of members from other sites, look for API set ups where dating members get free VOD and do full on add ins of VOD products at dating sites.

Work with Cam and tube sites to build into their registration page, have your programmers fully integrate your VOD system into their scripts and allow for their members to get the content at price ala itunes. Become a billing provider for this for tube and cam sites and make millions.

Pre-congrats on the new baby!

I'm outside of SF a ways, but I just put SF because everyone knows where that is, and my corp office is right next to the SFO airport. (Burlingame)

I'm not.

I post here in these type threads to get ideas flowing in my head, by answering others random questions. Its a brainstorming technique i use to prime my mind before a weekly staff meeting we have, where I help my office staff develop brainstorming and projects into full fledged businesses.

Hello Kind Sir!
A week or so ago you gave me some advice: buy targeted traffic then post your results here.
Okay, well, I've bought traffic in the past with horrible results. LOL Geo-targeted traffic from Traffic Holder and a couple others. I've sent that traffic directly to my paysites (worthless) and then to my Network site, where all 35+ of my sites are displayed. Again, worthless. So I don't think buying traffic will work for me, unless you have some specific advice/principles that would help (I can't afford to just buy and buy, hoping I'm choosing the right type of traffic, niche, geo, etc).

Since I'm asking I'll include Point #2 (which is more broad and may be of interest to more people):
I've notcied, since about April, that I'm starting to see wild sales swings. For example, Fellucia Blow is incredibly consistent, amazingly so, with her traffic. For months and months she would average about 1:500 conversion rate, with steady sales of around 15-20+ a day. There would also be days where she would make 40+ sales when the traffic was super-heavy.

Now, I'm seeing good days like i described above immediately followed by 'dead days'. So: Tuesday gets 22 sales, Wednesday gets 3! By Thursday the 'average' returns. But I've never seen days like these before! And they're happening every week.

Finally, what I've noticied and done is switch my cc processors, basicly 'toggle' between CCBill and Epoch when i notice one of those 'dead days'. Yesterday was one such day; 12 hours with CCBill got 2 sales - 3 hours with Epoch got 4 sales!

So what do you think is going on? I'd love to stick with one cc processor and stop all this confusing switching but it's how i seem to make the most $; leave it with one processer all week long and I get 5 good days, 2 shitty ones. I'm thinking it's a put-through issue, or scrubbing, or Visa, or the banks...LOL

Thanks mate!

For buying traffic from a broker you need to be on teh stop button at all times, ie if you get 1000 clicks from one and no results stop order and find another site try that one etc. You will also need a way more agressive site, with a console, and other things to really try and PUSH that traffic to make you more than it costs, its possible just needs lots of work. If you dont have the time dont work on it.

On this it happens at all volumes, what I started doing was filtering my traffic to processors all day everyday(I use 5 to 6) I choose and then push specific billers based on a lot of criteria including load time of my join form, the ping response of that server at the processor, thru put of transactions, join form submits, and other data that i use on the fly. The swing you notice is to be expected and happens to everyone you will have days your site gets more interested parties than others, just like a car dealer doesnt have day in and day out equal sales.

Hope that helps.

I know the internet is a whole world thing, but is your traffic coming from a really specific place with a TV series on Wednesdays that started in April that people are watching in the evening instead of jumping on the computer?

Depends on if I am sucking dick to pay for it or not hey? If a rock is costing me 10$ and I suck dick for 5$ then i would need to suck a lot of dick to get to 5,6,7 rocks.

What you said DOES help enormously! many thanks. Will try that 'stop' thing with my next traffic buy (before your advice I was just letting campaigns run their course).

As for the processors: To be clear, so what you're saying is you DO switch processers, sometimes on a daily basis?

Thanks for this thought. I had similar ones until I started seeing these 'dead days' spread out on ALL days of the week, not one specific day. In other words, one week it would be a Tuesday, one week a Sunday, one week a Thursday and so on. VERY odd! And as i said, this bizarre pattern only began around April 1, coinciding with the new CC laws that went into affect then. Coincidence?

I change them by the minute, by the surfer, by the origin country, but for you i would say try it by day parts, Ie ping your join servers every 5 minutes for a while, get the response result by time of day whichever has the better response result at say evening, pre set to be the primary over those hours. This is a first step in the evolution of you controlling your billing better.

This is a first step in the evolution of you controlling your billing better.

Thank you thank you! Your answer matches my gut instincts and it is very, very much appreciated. (Even if it did not 'match' my own feelings, thank you.)

So I went to the dog track, and was bored.. instead of counting the number of humans and dogs, I instead counted 74 heads and 196 legs.

How many dogs and humans are there?

What are your thoughts on offering trials versus just offering monthly memberships, and do you think there is a price point sweet spot to maximize both sales and earnings per sale?

That's correct.... I would have also taken 1 human, 2 dogs and a centipede.

I like limited access trials, but we experiment a lot, going to be testing some new join methods and trial price points this month.

For us since the stock crash we raised our price, raised our trial price and make more. I don't really care about transaction counts to be honest. I care about new revenue and rebilling revenue. I have seen a company that did 40 new sales a day but only made $40 in new revenue ;)
